   Helen - of Helen of Troy - as she pulled off a great surprise attack and also put Trojans 'on the map'. 
   
   All kidding aside, think the idea of her is timeless.  The face that could launch a thousand ships - oh to have that face - and be brave in battle and a 'goddess' at strategy!  I think she was one of the first 'modern' or evolved women!  She could do it all.

      I love the character of Hector, as a brother and as a son of Troy. He is very charismatic and his charms lights up the whole city. Unlike Paris, I'm not really into Paris.

      But Hector he has it all. He's actually very much like Achilles if you'd dot on into their positive sides.

      Beautiful Helen is a true heroine in this part of the world - she was born in Pellanas, about 3 miles from here.
      
      I am with mythbuster - I also love the tricksters and would add Hanuman to that list. Got a soft spot for Loki - we even named one of our cats after him!

       The ever lasting Cinderella story and it attendant drama
       
       I revisit this story because of the way it connects me to the realities of modern life. Cinderella did not struggle so much to earn her place. She is the eternally epitomized image of beauty to a point of vanity. She had it - she had it - she had nothing to do with its creation and I think she must have been very curious to watch the racket of heel cutting that went on in her village.
       
       But I cannot help to feel that the world today is filled by her competitor women who continue to cut their heels in order to fit in them.   The worst of it today is that there is no real prince charming in mind for those who are worst hurt to attain that perfect heel on society.
       
       There is competition to dethrone her in real life. To take her place and knock her off the pedestal and put ourselves on it. It is costing us so dearly and we don't seem to mind how much our cut heels are bleeding.  I am curious to know whether finally one can be comfortable when you end up with wounded heels inside her shoe.
       
       The game is enlarge in other spheres of our lives. To be like the Joneses even when this is naive. I am not here to say that there are no Cindarellas in real life. The worst part of that is that she might be thinking that she is someone else and today she might be doing that messy job of cutting further. The whole heel is gone yet she feels more cutting is still need.

    the siren, Lorelei rocks! she even has a famous rock named after her along the Rhine river. I wrote a poem about her years ago and lost it in one of my computers..
    
    Iris too because she's the messenger of the Olympian gods, goddess of the rainbow..
