   I received this response to a hub that I wrote, "I Have No Friends."

   "this is a load of bollocks, i do everything i can for the few friends i have. i have confided in them and then they ignore my feelings and keep me out in the cold again, this has been happening for 5 years, its not goin to continue though, i'm gonna bleed everywhere, they can ignore me but they can't ignore the mess my dead body will leave."
   
   This is frightening to say the least.  It came from the Internet, not from HubPages.

      Once, I knew someone who threatened to kill himslef. I did not take it seriously.
      
      I will never make that mistake again.
      
      So, someone might be pulling your leg..or...they might mean it.
      
      wich is worse? To be tricked, or ignore someone who needs help?
      
      sure, it could be fake and thats a cruel joke. wrong wrong wrong, but I wil never ever doubt soemone, ever. you never know.
      
      I know, she can not do anything, it stinks, she has no email or whatever. But I would send the message over to HP staff, report it or something, they could check the IP adress or something? If its real, get help, if its fake get ....I dunno...a warning?

   Well, Fastfreta, whether you're taking it seriously or not, there's not a lot you can do about it, especially since you can't contact 'Deadboy'.

   I agree with you fastfreta, that message is scarey! However, there is nothing you can do about it if it is someone planning suicide so don't dwell on it. It is more likely to be a prank - someone's idea of 'fun'.

   You're all so right.  However as is my nature, I was inclined to try to help, but as was stated there's nothing I can do about it, pity.  I haven't deleted it yet, but I plan to.  Thanks for all the input.

   That's just someone trolling.  The fact that you'd take an anonymous email sent just to provoke a reaction seriously is the scary part.

         I agree, Fastfreta-relache's response was a derogatory one and I wouldn't know how to take it either.  I'm also one who becomes concerned when folks reach out.  Whether or not this person is a 'troll' has no bearing on my heart.

         I don't disagree with Relache but I do agree with Mrvoodoo.
         
         There was another incident where someone posted a "not very happy" message on HP and I managed to track them down because some information they'd left (unintentionally) allowed me to find them online (they were a prolific website user.) They were in fact being honest.
         
         However yes, there are trolls online as well. But remember even trolls are human sometimes.

   My thoughts point toward the FBI who are able to discover and find pedophiles and others online by their IP.  It makes me wonder if there isn't a way to turn in IP's, ya know?  Kinda like Crimestoppers or America's Most Wanted.  If it doesn't exist, someone should create it.

   fastfreta:  the others are probably correct; it's an anonymous prank.
   
   However, the fact that you asked about it means that you are wondering whether something could be done to help, if it really is someone in pain.
   
   The ugly truth is that if someone really does want to kill him/herself, she will do it rather than talk about it too much, unless she wants an audience.
   
   The idea, though, of reaching out through the anonymity of email with such a message is gripping--if you had replied, could you have saved someone?  We feel guilty, often, if we think we are letting someone down, even if we don't know who it might be.

    Thank you, Rafini, Teresa, Katiem for your response.  Rafini, there was no IP address, so that was a dead end.  Teresa, you're right I did wonder if there was anything that I could do.  And Katiem, I agree that's all that I can do.

    You are all so kind.  I am so computer illiterate that I didn't even notice the ip address, there is one, and as someone suggested I will turn it over to HP.  Now I feel that it is really out of my hands.

          Lorlie, it's that 9 to 11 digit number that appears under the approve or deny box in the comment section, it actually begins with ip.
