So I met a sweet guy this past fall at a Marching Band competition. We have stayed in touch since through emails, texts, and cell phone calls. He has auditioned for Drum Corp International and hopes to get into either Phantom Regiment or Boston Crusaders! I talked to him over the holiday season and he would rather get into Boston Crusaders instead of Phantom Regiment. Phantom is based out of Rockford IL and being that I am four hours north of him (since he lives in iowa) I want him to get into Phantom so I can see him and keep in touch more. I dont know how Im supposed to react if he gets into Boston Crusaders. I want him to be happy and proud of his accomplishments but really I think I would feel broken hearted if he gets into the one of his choice.
I have strong feels for him since he is a guy that has similar interests and is genuinely all around a nice guy. He's a sweet heart and very caring.

Gosh, I am so thru with long distance relationship. I've been broken hearted twice already. some things work you know. What applies to you may not apply to me and vice versa. If it makes you happy then be glad. If you get broken hearted one day then you were happy. That should do it.

it is painful...imagine being 6,00 miles away (different countries) and married....missing holidays and much more. that is extreme long distance when the person loves their country and family back home equally or more.

    Hey thanks!
    He really is a sweetheart!
I havent talked to him in a couple days now. I dont know if he'll reply to anything or what to do. He hasnt said much, maybe he's simply just really busy with school and work.

Im not sure what to think anymore, I want to keep up and keep in touch with him, part of me is saying forget it! Drop it and move on, if he responds than great.

Take heart sassychic. I'm in a great relationship that started long-distance (1200 miles) and wouldn't change a thing. Yes, it was tough...there's a lot to be said for close contact! But whilst LDR's may be difficult, they're not impossible!

Shortly I after I started dating a guy after high school, I went off to college in another state. We did the long distance thing while I was away. It is tough! You both have to be very committed. Your phone bills will be huge, you will be lonely, and you will second guess your decision probably more than once. You'll have to get used to the idea that you can't see what he's up to or know if he's telling you everything, so LD relationships are going to be tougher if you're the jealous type. Needless to say...they CAN work. That man I dated is now my husband and we have been going strong ever since!! (9 years now! smile

You have to have SO MUCH TRUST for a long distance relationship and not sure I have that in me as life has taught me to be a little cynical

The only long distance relationship I trust is with God.  Guys are too visual to be satisfied with starring at your picture or listening to you on the telephone. Being from a navy town, I never understood how navy wives could see their husbands deployed for months at a time. I do realize that some long distance relationship are necessary but I was careful not to become a navy wife.

Bah, long distance relationships take much more effort than close encounters of the intimate kind. Generally they begin to behave in a manner that Einsteinian theory would call "spooky romance at a distance."

It can be done...but both parties have to be truly commited.
