We made a small update to the site today.
The biggest change is the addition of milestones in hubtivity. You'll be able to see when people reach certain numbers in hubs published, traffic, fans, requests answered, answers to requests made, anniversaries, etc. By default you are subscribed to see milestones for all users, but if this is too much you can always adjust your preferences. There are a few more entries than will be typical for today as there were some minor issues with rectifying all the old data. Going forward there should only be around 20 milestones achieved each day -- so it should not be too overwhelming, and is a good way to discover good authors that you may not have noticed.
The other significant change is that you can now flag requests. The volume of requests has been steadily increasing, such that it is difficult for us to keep up with the without some help from the community. Flagging a request simply alerts us that there may be an issue. No request will be removed without being reviewed by us.
There were a lot of other small changes, including some email improvements, rss capsule improvements, etc. As usual, let us know if you have any trouble using the site after the recent update.
I noticed that. I'm only showing as having reached membership milestones and not any for pageviews, and it looks like the same has happened to other long-time authors.
Will that get fixed or just skipped going forward?
We only keep hubtivity for 60 days, but we have recorded the date of achievement of all milestones going back in time for potential later use.
Okay. Most of the milestones indicated I achieved over a year ago, so that makes sense.
However, I just got my 600th fan within the last week, is there a reason that doesn't show? Or is that not a notable milestone?
600 may be notable, but not to us.
The milestones get progressively harder to reach as you work your way up. We tried to balance the goals of recognizing significant achievements and getting up and coming users a little more visibility, with not having too many milestones reached every day (so that everyone doesn't just unsubscribe). We'll get the thresholds into the FAQ soon, but they are listed below. In most cases, the top couple levels of each category haven't been reached (and may never be reached).

Thank you so much for all the different cool things you guys have implemented. I just logged in a little while ago to notice the milestones, and only have one question: Will there be any display of these on our profile pages in the future? They're awesome so far, though - seriously!
Thanks for the updates, especially request flagging, which I'd been considering asking for. Milestones look interesting too. Always fun to get rewards, even if they're just pixels on a screen.
Cool. I like the new features, you are always working to improve the site.
Thanks!
I had problem with getting email verification code. It became OK after i gave a new email id.
All changes made are really good.
I'm also loving the improvements.
One thing I noticed when I completed my Jaguar hub was there was a link that appeared over the first picture on the hub that said "See all 9 photos".
This might have been a previous update or maybe it rolled out with this new update, but I love it. I'm assuming that once a hub reaches a certain "minimum quantity of photos" requirement, the link shows up? Pretty sweet.
The slideshow feature was added a while ago. You have to have at least five photos that meet minimum size requirements in order for the link to appear. You can turn the link on or off by checking or unchecking the box next to the "Photos" section at the top of the hub editor.
(Sorry for the late reply, but I just now noticed that no one has answered your question!)
These are awesome updates! I'm so excited to see the new Milestones rolled out.
I wonder when I'll get my first medal?
I'm liking it. It helped me to discover hubs that I hadn't read and hubbers I've not seen.
I think this is the major benefit-- I like the new features, too.
Medals...Yeahhh... I like medals. After accumulating a bunch of them can we get knighted?
Just kidding. I love the improvements.
Thanks hubteam super duper job.
regards Zsuzsy
Fan mails are not being send to those hubbers who have not verified their email address.
This Mandatory Email Verification for joining a fan club was only made yesterday.
What about people who have joined before that. They will not be getting fan mail unless they verify their email address.
How is it possible if Hubpages do not send an official mail asking them to verify their email address.
Without this no one will be knowing the new change and no one will get fan mails delivered.
Do something about fan mails to old members or everyone is going to miss new updates.
Only 50 or 60 people visit Forums daily, so most people have not even noticed this.
New members will be prompted to verify email address, but what about old ones who only check the emails to know whether there has been an update by their favourite authors.
I tried to become a fan to a new hubber yesterday and the email verification prompt came up. All you need to do is click on it. It will tell you that an email was sent to you. This email has a verification # which you can copy and paste and you're certified.
No biggy deal... done.
I did so , I became a fan to the newbie and the rest is history as they say. Have a great day all. regards Zsuzsy
Zsuzsy i think you did not understand the problem.
For newbies or people who try to join fan club from now onwards won't be affected by this problem.
But think about people who have already joined the Fan club. What about them.
"WHO WILL PROMPT THEM"
It is a big deal as far as i am concerned. Are you asking me to forget my 1221 fans who had previously joined my fan club. How to ask them to verify email address. I hope you get the point.
In Your 482 Fans do you know how many have verified their email address. So majority of them wont be getting your new hubs.
Think it that Way.........
The way I see it, eventually everyone who is active on hubpages will have to verify their email. (which is probably a good thing) Unfortunately as much as I love the number of fans I have there are quite a few, as do others, that are not writing and participating here anymore. So if those do not get my new hub list then so be it. I also think that a lot more people come to the forums and read about the new additions then you might think, even if they do not post. (When I first joined I checked out every aspect, read every word in every forum posting but it was months and months after before I became brave enough to post a comment or a question in the forums)
I bet the hubteam will come up with a solution that will please everyone though.
Have a great day zs
I couldn't agree with you more as I verified my e-mail and many of my fans have as well as they are certainly commenting on my hubs and I have yet to post a new one. I am not concerned about it , as it is always wonderful to seek change and it is 2009, a new year and change is good!!!
That is not true, we attempt to send mail to every fan that has the "receive emails from my favorite authors" box checked, whether they are verified or not. There are some mail providers that defer or deny delivery, either due to the volume of emails or because of user complaints. We're working on some changes that may help resolve that, but it's ultimately their decision whether to accept emails or not.
Yes there needs to be a solution , we can't let out old ones. It was not their mistake, they were not asked to verify email when they first joined fan clubs.
Verifying email address is a very good idea but there needs to be some kind of arrangement to solve the present situation .
Getting email delivered to yahoo accounts can be very difficult.
These are wonderful improvements. Thanks for continually improving HubPages! Medals are good. Reminds me of our kids in school.
Thanks for the medal HP
It just told me I'm celebtrating 1 year here Nice updates
Very well...I spent some of my time to check out the new updates. Found a few people being awarded medals for reaching certain amount of hubs. I guess this is just another reason i should always stay with Hubpages.
Excellent job guys!!
Well done, Hubpages team and thank you for all the improvements...
This is a great idea, it will be useful and motivational to those who want to carve out a spot here on hubpages and its always nice to see achievements. Thanks for the new updates!
I love the improvements and it makes it more exciting to excel and achieve those goals, I always like a challenge.
Once hubber reaches a milestone, how long before they get listed? And are hubpage views calculated in the milestones or all other views?
