    Hey all,

I came across this news item and though he had some good points.

For the record, I think the statement "liberal media" is pretty stupid, too. But Just read his arguments, ignore the "liberal media" part, and see if you agree or disagree.

Not being a jerk, just throwing this out there.

Perhaps mistakenly saying 57 instead of 47, and suggesting the infrastructure and ecosystem of an island may be overwhelmed, using a too subtle humorous boat metaphor, are not quite as bad (or as dangerous) as this:

I don't agree with the suggestion that the media will not criticise a black politician because he is black. I think that's patronising. If Obama had said what Palin did in that video, I think the press coverage would have been greater, not lesser.

I'm not impressed by Walter Williams. And by liberal media are you referring to Rupert Murdoch's tabloids and the Wall Street Journal, his Fox News or CNN or the NYTimes all of whom supported George Bush's foolish, unnecessary and costly invasion of Afghanistan?

"I'm not impressed by Walter Williams."

Not your kind of black man?

Nope. He's a bit too conservative for me. I suspect other blacks would classify him as an Uncle Tom.

That's a really, REALLY poor reason.    You need to have a good reason, to think poorly of a brilliant man.

Of course there's a "Liberal media".   well over 90 percent of the media is Democrat, by their own admission.   Over 75 percent vote consistent Democrat.   The vast majority went to J school with overtly liberal agendas, and were taught that the the purpose of being a journalist is to transform the world, set the wrongs right, and create paradise.   They were also told that all the solutions to everything were the same thing as the liberal politics.

Williiams is dead on right, as he always is.   The media has political blinders on which prevent them from seeing race in terms of skin color, but in terms of skin color VS political correctness.   In other words, a black man who'se not a Democrat is stupid.   A white guy who isn't a Democrat is stupid.   People who do not conform to their elightened views are stupid.

Barack can't be dumb, because he knows every "intelligent thought marker phrase", which is to say, he has all the talking points of a liberal down pat.  Therefore he must be enlightened.  When Clarence Thomas speaks, he can't be smart, because he doesn't know the code words that indicate brilliance.   He's not "in".

Of course, there are no committees with video running and score cards to rate and publish the "liberal smartness" of people, and in fact, the media itself has no idea it's doing what it is doing.  It's a cultural maxim not to be questioned. So, the media does what any normal human does... behaves by it's cultural norms.

Are you referring to the reporters being Democrats? Possibly a majority of them are, but not the corporations that own the media and influence the content. I live in the Detroit area where as far as I know all the newspapers and most of the radio and TV stations are Republican, not Democrat. A once great radio station, WJR, now offers nothing but Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin and and other far right local talk shows and news.

I do not think it is something that most are willing to say and for that I will say well done to this man for being willing and to you for sharing it.

That probably is true. it's because race is such a sore issue. It's much the same as you can't criticize Israel for fear of being labeled an ant-semite. Same thing.
Much as people were labeled "Commies" and were afraid to speak up.
During Bush years, it was the Anti-American label people were afraid of. Or telling you "You hate the troops", if you questioned the "war".
There is always something hindering your speech. Stifling it. And race is only but one of them.

Love Lew Rockwell's site btw Evan....
Heard of him from a liberal talk-show host named Jay Diamond!

Its only an issue with those who can't get beyond race.

Sure race might have something to do with it, the liberal media is obcessed with it, anyone that doesn't share the liberal view or is opposed to Obama is obviously racist, it can't be that they simply think his ideas foolish. Remember how long it took before comedians would poke fun at him, claimed he wasn't funny? Yeah, they were all walking on eggshells, oh yeah brown eggshells! LOL

Jim, what does "Not your kind of black man?" mean?
Do YOU have a "kind" of black man that you prefer?
    I know I don't.
Maybe you meant "Not your kind of journalist."
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one.

    I started reading the article.

First, it's fairly clear to me that Hank Johnson's reference to a tipping island was figurative. If a Republican had said the same thing, provided they weren't a flat-earther "science is evil" type of social conservative, I wouldn't give it any thought either.

Second, that "57 states" has been debunked.

People's issues with O'Donnell don't have to do with misinterpreted statements or a flubbed line or two. It has to do with extreme views (that she still defends) and her inability to understand that dipping into her campaign coffers to pay her own personal expenses is wrong. Several people who have worked for her have said she's a complete trainwreck and that she shouldn't be in politics at all.

The fact that "the liberal media" didn't go easy on Blagojevich, or on Clinton, for that matter, makes his moans about bias difficult to stomach.

That made the rest of the article completely not worthy of reading...
