My first hub - would love feedback

   I published my first hub today in response to one of the requests.  I would love any feedback you can offer on formatting, length, info provided, etc.  I am a published writer, but new to Hubpages.  I just want to make sure I'm on the track.  Your advice is greatly appreciated!

   April, I'm wondering if you've written all your text in one capsule?   If you split it up into two or three, that will give more opportunities for Adsense ads to appear.  It also means you can add photos or revenue capsules in the middle of your text, to break it up and make it look more interesting.  Check out Darkside's Hub on Capsules for a better explanation.
   
   There are lots of far more experienced Hubbers here than me - I'm sure they'll drop in with more ideas, but sometimes it can get overwhelming if you're given too much advice at once!  You'll find there are lots of Hubs about Hubbing if you browse around and take it in gradually.

      This advice is another good tip!. I noticed that with my latest hub, the Adsense ads are not appearing the way I want to,  because I wrote all the text in one capsule. Will  keep this in mind for future hubs. Everyday I learn something new.

   As Marisa suggests I would definitely have Furniture, Organization and Personal Touches as the titles of separate capsules.
   
   You can then add an image as an illustration for those 3 points. The pictures help keep a reader stay on target and not get daunted by a big slab of text.

   Thanks, guys!  I didn't even know I could use more than one text capsule.  I will definitely do that for the next one. 
   
   That's why I wrote only one yesterday and waited for feedback.  I knew you guys would have tips and tricks to help me out. 
   
   Any other hubs on hubs you can recommend?

   Great hub, I just have one small suggestion. Usually, when writing for the web, it's best not to underline text unless it's a link. Intuitively, people want to click on anything underlined. Using bold or italics works best.

   I have to agree with you on the underline.  The text format threw me off a bit because when you bold something, it looks huge in the text editor.  I'm not used to that.
   
   Thanks!  I plan on visiting a bunch of hubs later today.  If I can't figure out how to do something, I will definitely be back.

   This is an excellent first hub.  I agree with the comments above (multiple capsules, headings, etc.)  There are advantages beyond the visual.  Welcome, and I hope you enjoy it here.

    Your hub looks great to me.  I"m new to this too, and trying to figure it out.  How do people find your articles in HubPages?  I did a search on my own name and it came up with nothing.  Can anyone advise?

       Add a few more tags to your hub.
       
       For http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Many-Faces-of-MSG (which is an excellent article by the way) add:
       
       MSG
       Chinese Restaurant Syndrome
       monosodium glutamate
       
       I'd be inclined to break up your content into about 3 or 4 capsules. With a sub-heading for each. So the information can be easily digested by your readership.
       
       Add an image to each capsule (by using the Photo Capsule and the "toggle width" function). This will help break up the content. Some complementary imagery helps with holding the attention of people and also illustrating a point.
       
       Use the Links Capsule to add related links from http://www.mercola.com/article/links/msg_links.htm
       
       And if there's a book at Amazon that you'd recommend, put that in too! Use the Amazon Capsule. Sales made when your Amazon Associate ID has the pageview will see you get 100% of the commission.

    Thanks for the great ideas.  I'll try out the ones I understand (I'm VERY new to this).  Bottom line for the moment:  if I want to recommend my article(s) to friends, colleagues, associates, etc., do I need to send them the exact URL of the article, or is there a way they can find it on their own?

       Yes, you need to give them the URL.
       
       With time it will get indexed by search engines. But the URL is always the quickest, shortest way for a person to get to a webpage.
