How often do google index a page?

   As a complete novice on google, I am about to ask a silly question! When you publish a hub I understand that google will index it.
   
   If you go back an edit that hub, will google re index?
   
   Does google index your site each time a search term is entered that maybe relevant to the content of tour site?
   
   I an now becoming interesting in earning from hubpages and knowledge is power! Thanks in advance!

      Yes, if you edit your hub, then Google will index it again and after some time it will remove the previous indexed result from it database.

   Google will crawl a website every so often. HubPages gets crawled frequently. For example, a forum discussion may appear within minutes, and hubs are often indexed within hours or less.
   
   As for individual hubs, it is safe to assume that these will be crawled every so often as well. One thing you can do is to keep contents fresh by adding a newsfeed and/or RSS feed; you can even place these underneath the comments capsule if you would like to keep them out of sight. Comments left on hubs can also help, and revising the hub itself may help - both the contents and keywords/tags.
   
   Google does not, however, revisit your site every time a search is made. Given the sheer amount of content, I would not expect them to crawl all hubs every day.

      Website Examiner:  adding an RSS feed to you website is not likely to it crawled by Google.  And RSS feed is a Java script.  Much like a picture.  I will only slow down the loading of your website it will get it indexed any faster IMHO.
      
      If you want Google to visit your site often run Wordpress Auto Blogs..

         RSS feed is content that changes regularly as well as a series of links. Both of which are good for that page AND the ones they link to.

   Agreed.  Google re-indexes Hubpage articles about every 10 days or so.  So if you change something, you'll have to wait a little bit.

      I thought the same thing, but I once took down a hub that I wanted to submit somewhere else, and it stayed in the search results for over a month. If you clicked it, obviously, you got the "No longer exists" message, but it was still in the search results, complete with the original meta description. Or is that a completely different matter?

         rmr - Google has a cache of pages stored away so it can serve the page faster to users and so's it can search the pages faster when it needs to find something special. What sounds like has happened there for you is that Google has just cached a page (and accompanying meta description) and hadn't re-indexed the whole site recently to update it's content. That's my guess anyway.

   I have 1 hub and I am on the first page on google and first on the list. I was put on there in September 2010 and I am still there in the same position since then. I have not got traffic yet from it because there is little competition for it with my 1 hub. I just came from google to check it out for my hub to answer this question and the numbers for being on google for my 1 hub is results 65,100 0.15 seconds whatever that means which I do not know what that mean. Google mainly look for quality to decide where your hub will be placed as far as I can see. I might be wrong but in my case with 1 hub I think that is the case with me. I am not going to update my 1 hub so what you see is what you get with my 1 hub being on page 1 and first on the list on google page.

   Actually Ambassador Butler is very clever.
   
   If you type in 65,100 0.15 the exact numbers he gave, you would see that his comment made 1st Page on Google out of 120,000 searches according to Google in less than 30 minutes. Interesting to find out how quick the search engines are to index forum results.

   Google will generally index a Hub pretty quickly.  Search for your Hub URL and see if it is cached (It will say cached somewhere by the link) it will tell you when Google last looked at your page (And found it updated).

   How often you post is key to Google's Indexing Algorithm.  Hubpages is owned by Google and the entire network of Hubs provides allot of unique content for Google.  As such, they crawl Hubpages quite often.  In order to get 1st page ranking you have to consider a number of variables.
   
   1.  How strong is your Hubpage i.e. does it have Page Rank?
   2.  How much competition do you have?
   3.  How strong is the competition?
   
   You can break all this down into various categories if you like.
   Check out my hubpage when you type "black hat world."  There is over 9 million competition for that phrase.  Massive competition and STRONG competition.
   
   The Hub has only 3 dofollow links going to it.  But I have contributed to the community by giving away information such as this.  And, it seems I am rewarded by the Hubpage system.
   
   Like anything else in our world, you have to work at it. Creating and maintaining a top notch Hubpage takes time and effort.
   
   Do not expect Google to come around frequently if you are not updating your Hubpage often.  Having said that, there are little tricks you can do to make WANT to come around!

         WE is correct, Google and Hubpages have no affiliation.
         
         And only 2,400 people are searching "Black Hat World" each month.
         
         The 9 million competition you are referring to are ANY sites on the net that contain the words 'black' 'hat' and 'world' in them.
         
         Nearly anything you type in will have several million results.
         
         If you ranked in the first page of google for "black hat", THAT would be something to brag about.
