Is the American electorate good enough for a president like Obama?

The question is, is "He" Good enough.
he is: a sincere man, a moral man, and basically a good man
      but...

he is also a formal man, an axiomatic man

Now, there is nothing wrong with that except the timing. he is in the White house at a time to complex for his lack of experience and his idealism.

There is not time right now to learn as you go. To many complex world problems for a self made arrogance of attitude to handle. To many problems left from a former President, dumped upon him. Possibly deliberate if you honestly follow Bush's last 6 months in office.

He (Obama) is out of place. He is not there in the right time frame for him, and thus he is floundering a bit, making to many mistakes.

Unfortunately he was also the best man for the Job among the choices we had, and thus he should have got in. He was truly the best of the election choices.

But I think he is not complete yet,  not experienced enough, not possibly wise enough for the office, and he lacks true un-changing character.
Now he does have Character, yes, but the character of idelic youth.

He does not fit the office well, wear it well if you will. he seams to me at times a bit forced-fit into place.

In short: To young, to fast, to much of a radical idealist for Americans to accept.

and very much not right for America at this time in our history, but definitely a man for the Presidency at another time. He needed to stay in the Senate a bit longer, learn a bit more, experience things a bit more.

He needs time. Time that that office can not afford him the luxury of having.

It is hard to watch, because I do believe, (even though I do not agree with his idealism) that he is a good man.

The American electorate is always vastly better than the presidents they elect.

Obama is clueless,  he doesn't understand anything about economics, business, entrepreneurism,  american culture,  leadership, or how ANYTHING works.   He's never done anything of substance in his life, he's never been productive.   He's never solved even the slightest problem, and he's lived a life sheltered from reality.

He actually thinks that his ideas are wiser than the age old truths he so desperately dislikes.

Absolutely not, he is not happy with just the American electorate, judging by his Narcissism I would think that only leading the World would put him in his proper position!

Wow...like a whole other universe of existance.

I would say that it is NOT Obama who is clueless here...and I mean clueless as in NO IDEA what they are talking about.

    Not an iota of truth.

But that's what we are used--have been subject to for 2 and 1/2 years.

    Smears
    Lies
    Untruths
Said as if they had all the authority in the world.

The American people have no clue about anything but their own small-minded ideas of how the world should be.

More and more, I'm experiencing what the Europeans call "the ugly American".

"The Ugly American" is just a delusion.   Enjoy it while it lasts.   Reality will be much harsher for you to adjust your thinking around.

LBJ: "It takes a great man to build  a barn. Any Jack-ass can knock it down."

Care to guessw which category the Baglicans are in? smile

And honey--it's no delusion....We ALL have experienced it first hand!

My reality was much harsher when I watched people jumping out of burning high-rises... and so far NOTHING has been done about the culprits.

And by golly gee.......my psychic abilities are showing me the letter R.

You have precisely NO "psychic abilities".   heck, you can't even perceive reality right in front of your own eyes.

Government greed for money is the worst, by far.

Corporate greed+gvt greed is what we've got here and now.

Not to mentin all the tax policies that favor the wealthy...let's see how your peeps do on that score.

I got a tax cut last year...first time EVER.

Repubs just always put me further and further down....and why? So their wealthy base can have more!

It's simple economics. Are you for the 5% of Americans at the top, or the rest of us?

Obama represents the rest of us, imo.

Boner----the monied classes on all levels...private and corporate, imo

        We shall see.

I guess one question here could be?

In the past when taxes were really cut, did Investment and expanshion improve and more jobs and real income improve and become reality, or did just the stock market flourish, and the rich got richer?

I do see your points here Chris, honestly do. But...with his economic outlook and the state of world markets, I am not so sure we can improve anything past small 1.1% growth spurts here and there. What if this is really all it will ever be?

          where are we then?

Another American who feels like I do:

"In the near future, the question is going to be whether Republicans are true to their promise to cut the deficit. Are they going to let the Bush era tax cuts expire? The cuts for those making 2.5 million annually cost around 700 billion I believe. That's half the deficit in one easy step, and I think people making more than two and a half million dollars a year could pitch in to help. Let all the tax cuts expire and the deficit is nearly gone, I think. See how people feel about reducing the deficit when they have to pitch in."

Not only do they need to cut taxes, they need to cut them DRAMATICALLY.   Corporate and business tax rates to 0.   That's right.  NONE.   Capital gains taxes to 0.   That's right.  NONE.

And then start cutting spending until the books balance.    If that means abolishing EVERY federal entitlement and half of the agencies in Washington DC?   So much the better for all of us.
