Reflections of my first year at Hubpages!

   I remember the day I found HP through an Internet search on free writing platforms.
   
   I was ecstatic about the site, and still am.
   
   I have learned what must be equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree with everything I have gained from the site and the research on my articles.  Yes I have other accounts.
   
   I found the forums enthralling, educated discussions, excellent.
   
   I truly was having a good time here at HP.  Then the forums became inundated with nasty entities.  I earned three bans in my first year all due to the same member/entity and am now reluctant to put my name in these forums at all.  Yes this is my real name.
   
   I was called names, continuously in the forums.  I sort of had a political demagogue stalker. 
   
   All that is resolved now, I rarely put my name in the forums.
   
   My writing has improved, at least IMO and that is all that counts.
   
   I thank HP for the platform provided,and am still content with the site.
   
   I started writing seriously one year ago right here at Hubpages.
   
   Another thing I learned:
   
   Not everyone you chat with is who they say they are!

   What a thoughtful post about your experiences here.
   I love that you express how much you have learned and how much your writing has improved. That's the highest praise you can give to a writing COMMUNITY!
   
   Sorry about your banning situation. Still, it's flattering (in a really sick way) to have your very own "political demagogue stalker."
   I do hope you will continue to post in the forums.
   Good opportunity to develop your self-restraint muscles and/or master the understated insult.

   Thanks for sharing your personal experience with us. I am new to Hubpages. I have seen Hubpages articles before when searching for somethings, but never thought about writing with it.
   
   Now I have given it a try. I guess a year from now, I can update with my experience too.

    I'm finishing up my first year as well.  I've enjoyed every minute of it.  Haven't made a dime but lots of friends.  Besides, where else can you write just about anything you can think of and folks actually read it????  Congratulations

    Happy anniversary and congrats on making first payout. It took me 15 months to make first payout, and now only 4 months later, I'm about to get my second. So there's hope even for people like me! I'm sure your second one will be much quicker as well.

       Thanks Daniel.  I am happy about the payout, but in all honesty the fact that I have people from all over the globe actually reading something that I wrote is priceless to me.
       
       The $$$ is definitely a bonus.

    We've all encountered people we find offensive in the forums, best thing to do is not let it get to you and let them get on with it!
