I became "born again" through Christ.....as in Baptism, as a bible reader and believer in Christ and His word, the Bible
though I was brought up Catholic for the past 33 yrs.

sorry I hope this isn't self promotion but the only way I can explain without turning this into a hub.
Yes, religious indoctrination does not mean one will always follow the same religion throughout their lives, but it does mean the believer will always embrace myths and superstitions, believing instead of thinking and rejecting anything that either does not support the beliefs or contradicts the beliefs.
You should read some of the stories of people that were rligious, but now are atheists.
That kinda defeats your argument!
Wow if that makes you happier good on you! I especially liked this on your hub!
"You CANNOT dismiss the possibility unless you are open to it first"
I also saw sense in the fact that going through Mary was probably the long way around too. In saying that we each have our own way.
Thanks for sharing!
Good for you schoolgirlforreal, the best part is you belive in Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas

That statement is describing almost everyone on the planet, including yourself.
You reject everything that disagrees with your beliefs.
Welcome to the human race.
Yes, I understand how believers confuse believing with thinking as they have no capacity for thinking and make the false assertion everyone else is like them.
Seeing is believing, the proof in in the pudding.
You are no diferent than everyone else on this planet.
Or do you se yourself as more SPECIAL than everyone else?

Is religion taught from birth a form of brainwashing? If you teach a child from birth a particular religion, is this not brainwashing? Would that child discover that religion on their own if it's something they weren't taught?

Why Do Religious People Get So Angry At Atheists? When it comes to Atheism, most religious people get angry and even combative when it comes to this subject. I wonder why, especially in this day and age, one would feel anger towards another human being with a different perception/outlook/belief....

I mean, what does it accomplish? I see so many different "belief" systems being argued and discussed on these pages. I haven't yet seen a single hardcore Christian being persuaded towards non-belief by an equally hardcore Atheist - or vice-versa. I'm not saying that it is idiotic to try...

Speaking only for myself here. I can't see inside other people's minds, so I don't if it's the same for them. When a person tells me about God and Jesus and the whole nine yards, my first natural inclination is that there is no real truth in it. This non-belief just occurs naturally without any...

Is there a difference between true faith and blind faith?I think true faith comes from prayer and reflection and meditation, while blind faith is believing in an individual rather than in the Word...eg: The May 21, end of the world forecast.

What do you people believe about Jesus? This question is perhaps the most crucial decision that a person can make, believing in and deciding to follow Jesus--or not. During the first 16 years of my life, I attended church with my mom, sang in the junior choir until my voice changed, and...
