   Dear Hubbers,
   
   With the recent buzz about the new iPad, just wondering if you'll be jumping on board to purchase this new techno-gadget?
   
   I have been an Apple junkie (iMac, iPod, iPhone) user for several years now and am absolutely dying to get my hands on the new device. I can see myself blogging much more often with a tool like that because I will likely always have it with me. I can also imagine using it to take notes in my classes, keep track of my bank account, stay on top of my e-mail etc. Yes, those are all things I can do on a notebook, but there's something very fresh and exciting about it doing it "Apple style" with a tablet style display.
   
   So what about you...? Will you be buying an iPad when they become available in April?

      I'm waiting. HP is coming out with a device like the iPad with additional features missing from the iPad. Besides, I never like to be the first to buy new technology, there are so many issues with them that won't be discovered until they get a good number out in the marketplace. I'll wait until they address those problems and come out with the next revision.

         I know I don't need one, and right now definitely can't afford one, but yes i definitely want to get one.  I'll probably wait until the price drops a little.  I don't own any apple products, but I absolutely love them!

      Nope - gonna wait and see what Amazon do to the Kidle, see what HP and Dell bring out and then take a look at Google's effort - by then the iPad v2.0 will be out..so I'll make a choice then!
      
      I have the Kindle at home so that's all I need so far, along with the two PCs and Laptop!

      There is a way to install windows on Mac laptops. You can use VM ware to run a windows enviroment on an IPAD....

   The iPad is a great concept, and I can see it's usefulness, however the price is still a little too high, so I might leave it a while before I buy!

   I have a friend that's a music major and he says he'll buy it if they develop a sheet music app. He wants to have all of his sheet music on the device and be able to turn pages with a swipe. I can see that being very useful for a musician!

    My mom bought me one!! I am super excited! She is starting to take an interest in my writing and thought this would be handy for me. Also I am about to hit the road for a couple years in my pop-up and she wanted to make sure I would stay in touch! I can't wait for it to get here!! Yipee!!

    The iPad has its place. It's not nearly as good as the Amazon Kindle for reading books, though. And that would be something I need it to be good at. The E-ink is hard to beat for readability. It's more something you have laying on a table by the couch and reach for to quickly look something up. I feel like walking to my desktop computer isn't all that much of a chore, so I don't see myself getting an iPad. I do like Apple's products though. I have the iPhone and an Apple desktop computer, both of which I'm very happy with.

       I agree, the Kindle is so easy to read outdoors and it's so portable. You hardly notice you are carrying it.

       there will be a preschool version coming soon, supposed to be released in mid-June or later. I found one with a very over inflated price on pre-order. don't fall for it.

    Yup. As soon as I can earn some money for one. Probably around Christmas time. I'm a mac guy. ipad, from what I can tell will be great for my needs.

    Nope. My dad got one from work, and I teetered with it. It's not all that great.
    
    If you are getting one, wait until next year when the second generation is released. The rumor is 2nd generation iPad will come out in 2011. It will correct all the missing parts to the first generation. You'd be wasting your money buying the current one when the updated one will come out in about a year.
    
    
    
    Personally, the HP Slate is going to have more features and a cheaper price. It'll be out next year, as well, and I'll be buying that one. It has double battery life, more outputs, 2 cameras, and tons of other goodies.

          Definitely do that. To me, it's a better deal because it's HP meaning it won't be nazi-tech system. Apple only uses apple programs, and if it's not an apple program (Adobe for example) they won't use it because it gives consumers more room to go outside Apple, causing them to lose money.
          
          
          Oh and I was wrong, it's this year releasing in June. I keep forgetting
          
          I believe it has multi-tasking capabilities. It has a bigger screen but is the same size, so the border is just thinner.
          
          I'll probably be selling my HP mini I bought last year and is still virtually brand new when I get the Slate. My boyfriend and I will both be getting them. He likes the fact that it has 1 gig RAM, SD card slot, comes in 16,32, or 64GB, with 1GB RAM, and the optional bluetooth. He's planning on using his as a large iPod basically.

             Yes, but don't you have to put it on a flat surface to type with two hands? Hard to see unless it's perched on an angle.

                The day my dad got his, he was laying in the bed, with his knees bent typing on his iPad which was turned horizontal and leaning against his knees in front of him. The iPad was basically in the air against his knees and holding the horizontal keyboard.
                
                All devices are going to be somewhat hard to see unless at an angle, doesn't matter what brand or type.

    The iPad has had very bad revues so far. Who would want a unit that can only do one appy at a time? No multi-tasking No USB port? One handed typing?

    Definitely not, don't have the money but if I had it I would not buy one.
    
    I don't think I will buy an iPad like other Apple products. I don't like Apple restrictions because they are abusive and don't respect your freedom.
    
    I also think that is expensive for what they are offering, but that's what you should expect from Apple's products.

    No way, my iPhone covers all my portable needs. The iPad is just too big and clumsy for me. If I need to document writing, etc... a notebook or netbook suits me absolutely fine.

    To be honest, I cant see the point of the iPad if you already posses an iPhone. It seems to basically provide the same functionality on a large screen, minus the phone capability. For the price, I would much rather buy a fully functioning laptop.
    
    Having said all that, I will probably end up being completely swayed and buying one once I get to play with one.
