What do they think is required to save America in the south?
//They need to get down on their knees and pray, and God will show them how to bring this country back to productivity, says one reader here in Spartanburg SC. He goes on to tell lawmakers to get their heads out of the sand and repeal everything that puts money into the hands of foreign terrorists and is earmarked for wasteful ideas like a bridge to nowhere.//
http://www.goupstate.com/article/201101 … &tc=pg
Let me get this straight, to start with we should consult an organization that the CEO of doesn't pay taxes, an organization that controls hundreds of thousand branch offices that don't pay taxes, offices that receive their operating expenses from tax free contributions, for advice on how to run a country that is funded by taxes, right?
Don't they realize that possessing the ability to fleece little old ladies out of food money is not the proper experience needed to run a country?
What about that bridge to nowhere?
//Gravina Island BridgeFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gravina Island Bridge, commonly referred to as the "Bridge to Nowhere", was a proposed bridge to replace the ferry that currently connects the town of Ketchikan, Alaska with Gravina Island, an island which contains the Ketchikan International Airport as well as 50 residents.//
//Today, Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) will offer an amendment to the Senate's appropriation bill to transfer the $223 million that Congress had previously approved for a bridge in Ketchikan, Alaska, to fund reconstruction of a hurricane-damaged bridge in Louisiana.//
//Despite the willingness of many in Alaska to give back the bridge to pay for disaster relief, Alaska's congressional delegation has dug in its heels, and many of the delegation's colleagues, including all of congressional leadership, support its resistance. If Alaska loses some of its pork, they fear, so might they.//
You see. many Alaska residents wanted to repeal the bridge to nowhere but their beloved Republican representatives said no way, no how. How much you want to bet that this reader will continue to vote the republican ticket in all elections? Can you say Gumped?
He also forgets that a lot of the money the terrorists are using to create terror in the world was freely provided to them by daddy Bush when he ran the CIA. He does have a good idea, let's repeal the Republican Party.
Better change the system to one where normal people get to rise through politics by their intelligence and integrity. The present system in the US and the UK is composed totally of professional politicians, rich people whose credentials are the ability to lie through their teeth, collect money from interest groups and represent the corporations rather than the people. It would cause a lot less bloodshed than a revolution
While I am not in any way an advocate of communism - the structure of the system that has developed bears looking at. In China the Party operates at all levels from local 'committee' town, region, state, and nationally to The Committee that we all know. Theonly major fault with it is that it is single party. If the structure was used but with democratically elected people on the local committees it would provide a democratic system that reflects local opinions and a route for local people to rise to the top. Even the Party system operates through agreement down through the levels - with democratic principles it would likely work better than the present turkey shoot of which amazingly rich guy or profesional liar will decide the future 3 years each time.
China is one of the best models for the world to learn from. Population Management of population growth shows great responsibility for future generations. Not giving multi-nationals the power to run the country like they do in the US is also of great advantage for the majority interest of the people.
How public information is being manipulated in the US should make any person with a brain think twice about the power of money and how it has undermined human rights and the basic interests of ordinary people in favour of a military machine ever since JFK ...
I agree. With both of you, as do most people I talk to. I've been disgusted with the republicans since George Bush's callous response to Katrina; and the take over of the party by the religious right is untenable. But both parties are so out of touch with the average american I have a harder and harder time deciding between the lesser of two evils. I wonder sometimes, why are we so stuck so firmly in a two party system? Then I remember that corporations own this country and any politician will eventually find their way into their pockets.
Maybe we could re-name the parties to
Demopublicans
and
Republicats?
If we look at the americas who were once christian land whereby the laws of God were commonplace we see blessed land. If we look at what america has become in that it has slid backward away from
God we see much tumult.
Praying to undo something but not correcting the mistake is a waste of time because then the prayer is a miss and not a hit so to speak. God will not bless a continent that does not keep his statutes and laws and neither considers Him.
Listening to atheists is not a solution either LOL
The problem is not simply a god thing, it is the people using god to stay in office. Here is another example of two things happening at the same time. If we look at america when hippy beads and bell bottoms were popular and compare that to what America has become, we see alot less people coming together to solve this countries problem. We see much fighting against than working with. It has become more important for the other side to hollar uncle, than actually doing anything to help this country. If you look at the rest of the era you are discussing from any point of view than white christian, there is a very good chance your family had a slightly less than perfect existence.
Does it really send a peaceful message to the black community that all america needs is to return to the days of slavery and legal persecution.
Are women supposed to jump for joy at the prospect of being considered property of men, again. Should we go back to the days of Catholics being hated for worshiping the same god you worship with a better wardrobe?
How about the Japanese community, should they check back into internment camps so we can recreate the good old days so many long for and demand?
Other cultures and belief systems are finally getting the legal recognition and the christians cant stand it. Every problem that arises is blamed on the decline of religion and the worst part is, it is the air of self rightous superiority that christians view the rest of the world with.
Just my opinion on it. Look forward to your reply. peace
it is the air of self rightous superiority that christians view the rest of the world with that is causing so many to leave the church of late. Membership and attendence is down across the country and it's just more of the same from the church folks. They would rather stand alone as the last "True" christian than accept less than 110% compliance with each and every personal belief they have. The extra 10% is for those abominations that are subject to change at anytime.
Please note that this is not a personal attack by any means.
You mean when the good Christians brought over slaves to work their fields or when they slaughtered the natives for their land?
Yes, a blessed land it was, indeed.
I'm sorry, I have to ask; you think our problems are the result of sin? You don't consider us blessed? This seems very strange to me. Could you explain how you arrived at this conclusion?
They mean THEY are blessed, but the rest of us are going to cause Sky Daddy to wreak horrible punishments upon everyone because he is very indiscriminate that way. All knowing, all seeing, but terrible aim.
Yeah, listen to deluded people who make claims without proof as if they know it all. Or to speak out of thin air.
Well praying may give you strength but that wont get rid of liberals and getting rid of liberals is the ONLY way to save America.
Conclusion - Christians are very peaceful folks.
As we have proved so many times before, you don't even understand what being a liberal means. The fictional creatures you fear are not representative of actual liberal positions.
Yes in your dreams you proved liberals aren't evil fools... not like in the real world! LOL
Show us your imaginary evils. Let's see if you can accurately portray real liberal positions.
Tax, spend, enslave, and oppress. I think that covers it!
Enslave? Oppress?
Liberals stand for protecting the weak. Is keeping minority rights what you mean by enslavement?
Tax, yes. This isn't 1850. We have a complicated world. Our taxes will always include some waste and there will always be specific programs we disagree on - that's why we VOTE.
Enslavement by relying on government for our needs and oppression by forcing us to pay for it all and by mandating decisions on everything from food, to light bulbs to the cars we drive.
Forcing you? Gosh, by voting?
So it must be that the majority disagrees with you? Why don't you move to some country that doesn't vote?
Voting? Who's voting for what? What majority? The majority was against the unconstitutional health care bill.
Would you prefer to just line them up and shoot them or do you have a more humane system of getting rid of them?
Can a fool be evil? Doesn't evil imply intent?
Doesn't a fool lack the mental capacity to have intent?
The term "evil fool" is an oxymoron, I think.
As to LaLo's other proposition:
All the liberals in the US wouldn't fit in Cuba.
But we could easily put all the right wingers in Texas + maybe one other state. How about Wyoming?
The problem with liberals us they don't realize how evil or foolish they are! And yes you can be both and heck you could even be intelligent at the same time! You see that's what makes libs solo dangerous!
Lady love , place quit while you're behind. Those are some rather ridiculous and hateful things in that post. Evil? For being liberal? Liberals are dangerous? I'm middle of the road, and I don't think much of far left wing ideology, or the far right, but neither can be described as you just did.
Hateful? How so? Ridiculous? Again, how so? This is serious business.
Yes, it is serious business. Which is why we all need to calmly and unemotionally talk about it. Hateful speech does little more than make people dig their heels in harder. No one is evil, foolish or dangerous; as you stated. We are in the mess we are in thanks to the lack of vision of both parties. The media, and both parties, does its part in focusing your attention away from the problem. and by repeating what we hear them say we just expand it. in my opinion.
just, I would suggest the humane thing to do here is leave her in her delusional world before you cause her to soil her magic underwear.
Nothing hateful about that! LOL
The left is spool hypocritical!
Perhaps, but this can certainly be viewed as hate speech:
to anyone interested in having a conversation I will gladly attempt one. If you show the abilty to state an orginal thought of your own lady we might be able to have one. I left my need of a preacher in the same garbage bin I left religion in.
So hateful speech is any speech that isn't in line with your views or that you personally deem it so?
Im sorry a law that forces me to purchase something against my will is both foolish and evil.
Someone offers the same type of comments you spew and you cry foul. RIGHT ON, lol
Who's crying foul? I'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy of the left!
from the position that it is confined to the left, correct? Your party has caused as much harm to this country as your god has. It may be time for the right to crawl out of the bed they share with your god.
Exactly, PC.
It would be nice to have some basic agreement on the realities of living in America.
Taxes are necessary because some government is necessary.
It seems to me there are about 10 zillion things that government does that never even get talked about here.
The focus of all the sputtering vitriol seems to be only on a very few issues, although the discussion is in sweeping B/W generalities.
At the risk of inciting a forum riot, what I see is people "bitter and clinging to their guns and religion...."(sound familiar???)
Save America? Pray?
Ugh!
Perhaps folk should learn how to commune with Creator. Perhaps they should do more listening in silence for hours at a time, than rambling for hours, never letting Creator get a word in edgewise. Forget science, religion, politics, economics... how does the text go? These things are rust & moths?
Test this spirit:
Spend 24 solid hours in silence, listening --not reading the 'bible, etc', asking, thinking, music. Just listen and see what happens.
James.
I think it's about time the government starts dunning god for the right to work here in America. If every church out there trying to force it's antiquaited beliefs on us, payed for the right to do so. Revenues would be up and the right would have more money for their arm the right campaign. It seems that free speech is only guaranteed to a christian church, the rest of us have to pay taxes to be considered an amercan, now dont we?
This country is in bad shape and there is no example in history that proves they offer anything with a chance of improving it.
This also applies to the right and their god, Ronnie Reagan.
Who is preventing you from working, the church?
And you say the right are wingnuts? LOL

Congressional Democrats spent more than $35 million on the Mueller report. It took 675 days, included nearly 3,000 subpoenas, and required 500 witness accounts. Despite being conducted by a far-from-unbiased legal team—one that has collectively donated at least 20 times more to Democrat as...
