So at the end of this month, I'll get $111.36 transferred to my bank account smile
It would've probably happened sooner if I had written more Hubs, but I got out of the habit of writing them, even though I frequently pop in on my adsense account to see a couple bucks made every so often.
How long did it take you to get your first payout? Also, when you answer, please include how much effort you put into it (like how many Hubs you had written by the time it happened).
I think I could motivate myself to get back into writing by seeing if I could get the next 100 in less than two years smile

I can't recall. I took a couple months on Adsense, and I put quite a bit of effort in to it. I more or less just was learning though. Still haven't started writing hubs though, like I would like to.. not sure what direction I want to go.

Congratulations.  I think it was about 4/5 months but then I was fortunate with a surge in traffic from Yahoo homepage (read my blog for how this happened!).  Only a few hubs as well (maybe 20?).

It took me about 10 months but I had more than 50 hubs by that time.

Congratulations!  I've only been here four months and no payout yet, but my Adsense is on an upward trend so I'm hoping to reach payout in a couple of months.  Again congrats on your first payout.. I'm happy for you!

    Congrats from me too!
I'd written nearly 200 hubs before I reached payout after about 8/9 months, but then it hit home about keyword research and since then my earnings have climbed dramatically. I've hit payout every month since (though this month remains in doubt thanks to the algo change).
Strange this is, my best performing hubs are a mix of old and new. The title tuner helps immensely on older under-performing hubs.
Just keep writing whether you know about keyword research or not is my advice.

I noticed.. I only get like 1 cent every few hours from this site..
    It's a scam.

Mr. Unknown I've been writing my butt off and haven't made a cent yet, only been here two days tho. Look at all the people around you saying they have made money! It does actually take work, and don't count on HubPages to do your advertising for you. Tell your friends, get a fan-base, and then make money. Its not a scam.
           Peace.

Yes, it does take work-- like other money-making enterprises. As I said before, I got into this with a different mind set. I had some articles published in print, for which I still held rights, so I thought I might as well post them here and see if they earned a couple of dollars more.

I found out that I really enjoyed the interactive aspect of this site, and it was also nice to see the few dollars. It inspired me to write some more.

I really respect those who can make significant money here. That has not yet been my goal, but it is nice to know it is a possibility.

I like writing, however if you are looking to make a living out of it you might want to go collect empty soda cans instead!

Congrats! I'm somewhat new and have only made a dallor so far,  I only like to write about things that i can be interested in, with school its hard to be completely desdicated like how i would like, I kind of feel like some people just get lucky or are able to get the skill of earning the money faster then others, but until it happens to me i guess thats when i will believe it!

Well done and I really admire your persistence.

It took me just one month to get paid, but I did do the 30 hub challenge, which seemed to help.

Keep at it and never give up post those hubs. wink

It took me 16 months with 56 hubs to reach my first payout. I am now slowly approaching my first payout from the Hubpages Ad Program and by the way, congratulations.

Took me 18 months to my first. Had a couple since then. Since the change, I have been creeping by pennies to my 4th. Since then the new HP has helped, and Amazon is doing a bit better, too.
My primary motivation here was not profit. I thought that if I got a few dollars for doing something I enjoyed, it was all a bonus. Since starting here I have found that increasing that bonus is not a bad thing, and it usually makes my writing look better.

Congrats!  I've only been here two months, so no pay-out yet, but hopefully, it will come before a year is out.  My goal is to get as many hubs up as possible and maybe that will help me hit pay dirt sooner!

  21. Rochelle Frank profile image90

Comparing this to collecting  old soda cans is appropriate (especially at first), but the old soda cans don't keep earning and growing in their earnings. It is very slow and steady especially at first.

My first payout was for $111.34. I reached it in August 2010 so that was about 7 months into Hubpages (was paid out the next month). I had a total of 17 hubs then.

  23. Rochelle Frank profile image90

And that was a very good start.
