   Can I write just one article per day? Thanks. This is important to me as I am not a fast writer and I am working online as a freelance editor, writer, and transcriber.

      There is a maximum of 5 Hubs per day or you can write one Hub for the entire month. It is entirely up to you and your other commitments.

         Yep. Course you need to know what the topics are, I haven't looked so don't know if they're published yet.

   From reading the rules, it looks like the writer chooses a niche topic which has not been extensively covered online. I may be wrong, but that's how it reads to me.
   A contest with a specific topic may defeat the first criteria for judging: long-tail niche topic that has not been extensively covered online.

      I'm wondering if they're going to narrow it down more than that?
      
      Is that the only criteria for the whole 4 weeks? Or will there be themes or topics for each week or day?

            Then why do the rules mention the following?
            
            "In addition, all submissions categorized within the Daily Bonus Topic, which is specified on the contest page, within 24 hours of the topic’s posting, will win an additional three (3) entries (chances) in the day's Daily Drawing." [emphasis mine]
            
            That sounds like there will be a topic for each day.

   Coming up this April is the So You Think You Can Write Online contest – the theme of which is excellent online writing.  You can submit entries on any topic you choose – all you have to do is add a “WritingContest” tag before you publish.
   
   That is copied from the main hubpages blog. So, any topic you choose just add the tag.

      This has always confused me, which is why I never enter. Well, and also because I find it difficult to write about topics others have selected.

         Aha! But this time, you can write whatever you please.  And all you have to do before entering is add WritingContest as one of your tags.  It cannot get any easier than that

            Just put WritingContest in the same place we put our normal tags? I understood the rules to be that we could write on any topic that doesn't break any of the usual HP rules.

   I think that is what is so great about the upcoming contest, no topic to write to, you pick what you want to focus on. I wrote one sort of still touching it up and all, but I think it is great.
