i think hubpages should introduce a rating system ,

it can be both negative as well as positive.

so that whenever a good post is written people can rate.

hubpages can also relate this to affect hubscore.

    from this ,
thos people who are spaming ,
    or writing few words post.

    should decrease ,

    for increasing their hubscore.

& it should be such strict as only members with hubscore with greater than 80 or 85 or 90 or 95

    should rate it.

so , misuse of rating can be stopped.

pls write some posts about how it helps & how it can be misused.

No need. There is a rating system... That's what the numbers are on your hub. And that's what a hubber's rank is.

If you mean like a karma system on the forums, I can say from experience that gets *very* sticky with members. People will question why they have lost karma and feelings can get very hurt sad

Why would you need to be rated in the forums? I don't understand.

E.M. I could see where it could get sticky, but I don't understand the purpose for forum rating.

    Did I miss something?

Is the newb still making suggestions?

Apparently so. Maybe there should be a mechanism that prevents newbs from posting **anywhere** in the forums for at least 30 days.  Read but not post.  Hide and watch.  Watch and learn.

I like this idea! You should start a thread on it.  Ha. There are a few reptile forums that make you participate in a number of threads opened by others before you can post new threads.

Wouldn't this make them 'second class' citizens? Some would just say "forget it". I think a lot of new people do this (wait and read) anyway. Others would just as soon learn by their mistakes.
There is enough info posted (for those who bother to read) to help them avoid major pitfalls.

No, it wouldn't make them 'second class' citizens, only better informed.  Yes, there's plenty of info posted to help avoid major pitfalls.  It's the ones who don't read it who need to the most.

ditto, I try to search and read first. isn't that what HubPages is about? I kind of understand what he's saying but I agree, we already have scores in place. it would be neat if there was a way to thumbs up forum posts though (kind of like how Facebook has the like feature).

I agree that the rating system on HubPages is fine.  It is the relevant content that gets hubbers commenting.  I think that the relevancy of your hub to provoke a response measures good a hub you have written.  Also commenters will let you know the    quality of your hub.  The only other measurement you should be concerned with is Google Analytics and Google Adsense to track who is reading your a articles and what your earnings are.
