   Why are women still treated like property in 2011?!!
   
   RIYADH (AFP)  Defiant Saudi women got behind the wheels of their cars Friday in response to calls for nationwide action to break a traditional ban unique to the ultra-conservative kingdom.
   
   The call spread through Facebook and Twitter is the largest en masse action since November 1990, when 47 Saudi women were arrested and severely punished after demonstrating in cars.
   
   Forty-two women took part in Friday's protest, according to the Facebook campaign page Women2drive, which said none were arrested, one was given a traffic ticket and that two others were escorted home.
   
   A woman said she was stopped by a policeman in Mecca who confiscated her mobile phone and those of her passengers but made no effort to take her to a police station.

      I have maintained that the oppressed peoples of the Islamic countries look at the free world and want what they see.  It will change the face of that religion in time.
      
      On the other hand - a wild bunch of untrained, unskilled women drivers all getting behind the wheel at the same time and place for the first time?  I'm gonna open a body shop there!

   They will preobrably get 50 to a 100 lashes each for that.
   
   Saudi Arabia is some of the strictist Islam out there. Wahhabist Ideology is as close as you can get to Ibn Hazm. Who was a strict literalist in his understanding of the Qu'ran, Hadth, and in his works on Islamic Law.
   
   Not a nice thing. I hope it works for them... but I doubt it. God bless them an keep them safe.

   No punishments in Public due to Camera's but wounder what the Goverment orderd thier Husbands to do?
   
   It is not as open and free there as it is portrayed!
   
   That took real strength for those women to act. Courage.
