Quantcast and Alexa

   HubPages' traffic ranking has been climbing in Quantcast (US traffic only).  I can remember when everyone got so excited that it had broken into the top 50 group - wayyyyy back before Panda 1.0.  A couple of weeks ago, HP was listed at #133.  Then, as the subdomain shift began, the ranking started climbing.
   
   Yesterday HP was listed at #101.  When I checked just now, there was a note on the page that there would be a delay in giving today's rank - a delay until 12PM PDT.  That is about 90 minutes from now.  Any guesses as to whether HP will break through the 100 barrier?
   
   Also, the Alexa ranking for the US has been climbing.  The global rank slipped a little.  For several days when I was looking, the global rank was #345.  Then it climbed to #343, then slipped back to #346 where it is today.
   
   But the Alexa US rank a few days ago was at #241.  That has been climbing a bit day by day, and today it is at #218!
   
   These numbers are exciting to me - but I don't know how and whether they actually affect individual subdomains.  I'm ready to be disappointed, but I would rather learn that the increasing traffic does and will help out individual subdomains.  Any enlightenment? 
   
   [And, FYI, I do understand that traffic rank and traffic amount are not identical.  A site's traffic rank could increase with no increase in traffic, if other sites of higher rank lost a lot of their traffic.]

      We used to be able to get Quantcast data or our subdomain but it was blocked. Anyone know how to restore it? I registered but to no avail.

         I heard that HP blocked subdomain data because some hubbers were concerned about privacy issues.  I can understand it in some ways.  If you're a high achiever, there are people who will copy your stuff like crazy!
         
         (I don't know if it's true, but that's what I heard.)

      Alexa traffic rank is based nearly completely on the data collected by people using the Alexa toolbar, it is highly innacurate and really does not give much of an indicator of anything.  A tech wwebsite can easily get a higher traffic rank than a fashion website, even though a fashion website may be much more valuable.

   The latest stats show we are now 98.  I started to jump in the air with excitement and then wondered how much of this is an initial boost to all those new subdomains.
   
   I think we need yet another few months of waiting to see what is really going to happen.  And all that time waiting for the next Panda to decide that it doesn't like long words or people who say "oh crap, my traffic disappeared".

   It's good news generally.  Like Mark, I feel a little uneasy, however, with some prominent hubbers life Izzy and Randy G getting badly slapped.

   Traffic has been growing overall, but there definitely some people seeing drops - It's difficult to pinpoint why.  From the data we have, I think overall growth will pick up in September because of the back to school season. 
   
   i'm looking for an account example that has dropped, but hasn't done any promotion off of HubPages beyond twitter, and facebook and maybe a link from their personal blog.

      I have six new articles I've written in the last 12 days. There are no links to them, not even twitter or facebook, except for two links a piece to articles on my personal blog.
