      Okay, while the chicken's breasts are very obviously exposed; I could hardly call it 'sexy' LOL.

   I find it a bit odd that the NYT are publishing this, shortly after publishing an attack on PETA for wanting to promote an ad against shark attacks by humans.
   
   I'm going through my million and one open tabs and not finding it! Damn!
   
   PETA are currently up for ridicule, for wanting to promote an ad saying "Payback is hell - go Vegan", after the shark attack on spear fisherman C.J. Wickersham in Florida last week.
   
   C.J. (and I'm sure I have his first name recorded somewhere - probably on my shark attack hub) - suffered a severe bite from a bull shark which cut to the bone requiring 100s of stitches and he was lucky not to bleed to death.
   
   PETA jumped on the opportunity to promote a vegan diet, more or less, by preparing an advert that more or less said if you fish, its your fault if a shark attacks.

      Was it specifically directed against Wickersham or just coincidental? My first thought had more to do with the nearly 40 million sharks killed annually for their fins, which is a barbaric practice that ought to be banned globally. Unlike PETA, I'd hesitate to punish its practitioners by shark attack, but jail time certainly should be in order.

      I thought that if you jumped into shark infested waters with an open wound that it was your fault if a shark attacks...
      
      If you are one of the jerks who like to cut off their fins and throw them back in the water to sink to the bottom and drown:  I hope you get your head, hand, foot, or whatever is closest to the shark's mouth- completely bit off.
      
      They don't even deserve to have a bloody stump left.
      
      (Sorry kerry, I know you don't want anyone to be hurt.  I don't enjoy seeing people get hurt either, but if they want to play with fire they'll just have to understand  that they may end up burnt to a cinder.)

   PETA scares me.  I consider myself an animal rights activist, but there is a line.  ASPCA is more of my speed.
   
   The chicken picture is ever so slightly disturbing though, and I will probably feel icky about buttering the thanksgiving turkey this thanksgiving.  I might just run with it and put on some corny 70's bowchickawowwow music.

    This picture probably does more to put people off eating chicken that most of what PETA puts together. When I think of the money they spend on their adverts, I cant help but wonder if that money could be put to much better use with other organizations fighting the same cause.

       That's one of my concerns as well.  A wonderful lady that I know runs a cat shelter with her own money.  She scrambles to pay the power and water bills on the converted school she uses for the purpose. For the price of just one of PETA's naked woman ads her agency would be financially set for life.  She has saved over 3000 cats and reduced the stray population (by spay and neuter programs that she almost has to pimp herself out to run)by thousands.  Imagine the good that individuals like her could do with the millions of dollars that PETA brings in.

    All body and no head...and a definite insult to the life lost to feed a fat nation...well, I'd have to say that the entire thing...picture, concept, disregard and taking of life for an immature, ridiculous and juvenile "joke" is about as disgusting as it can be.  apparently, turcky bowling and dove hunting isn't enough to satisfy the grade school level of intelligence of some people...no, we must stoop even lower, behave even more callously in order to entertain and satisfy our insane outlook on life.  Utterly innane.

       It's symbolic and indicative of the truly humorless state of affairs on so many levels that people can, easily and without a second thought, pass by with nary a touch of feeling.  It's characteristic of the shallow and narrow concept of life...besides being just a tinge on this side of ...shall we say....interesting...says a lot ..you know, the pose...where have we seen THIS before?  sometimes, we must forego "humor" for the sake of intelligence and the image which is not, necessarily, humorous...everyone says, at one time or another..."Oh Pleeeeeeease...where are these people's sense of humor!"  over some of the most outrageous examples of human folly...this, to some, is that..maybe not to all but, to some, it is.

          I don't think it's an outrageous example of human folly. It's just a chicken in a "human" pose. I wouldn't have thought of it as being "sexy" myself, but if you want to see something truly scary you need to watch those toddler pageants where they dress them and put make up on them to make babies look like grownup hot babes. Now THAT is scary! But a chicken with legs crossed sitting on a counter? Nope. Not a big deal. It's food and we all play with our food. And the "sexy" part is meant to be taken as a humorous remark and not as a twisted sexual invitation.

    Here's the deal.  I agree with you about the sexualization (or dehumanization or numbing) of our young girls (and boys).  here's the thing about the photo of the bird...I don't really see it as sexy, at all.   What I see (and you don't have to be a bird lover, vegan, vegetarian, pacifist, etc) to imagine this:  The waste of life for our sense of humor.  That thing, above, was once alive...now, dead and postition for our, rather, immature sense of humor.  If nothing else; it's wasteful.  And crude.  Just silly.
