Well...I knew it was insane for me to take the HubChallenge and aim for 100 hubs in 30 days (probably should have aimed for 30). I am 35 weeks pregnant and that means not always feeling the greatest. Plus I am a work from home mom of a very active 3 year old. I was doing great at the start of the week, but then a glucose test had me feeling horrible and I didn't get enough done at the end of the week. Then the weekend was crazy and I still haven't gotten caught up. Top it all off...I have to work on other sites for awhile because I have a bill that I pay each month with my PayPal money and I need those earnings to be high enough to pay the bill! So, I will have to take a little time off to make sure the earnings elsewhere are big enough to cover our needs.
Of course, I am worried I won't make the 100 hubs. I know I should write shorter ones, but I am just not very good at that! I know I am not the only one struggling and would love your encouragement and your own struggles. Let me know I am not alone!
Don't worry about it. You're an expectant mother, so take it easy. Boy or girl?
We are really excited about it being a girl! We have an almost three year old son and are looking forward to a beautiful pair.
Hi aidenofthetower I am not in the challenge ...single parent n just not enough hours in a day period... I understand and know the stress you must be feeling. Start with a deep breath, relax and make a schedule each day if you need. Get organized and set a timetable. Writing can be done quickly on topics we know and a bit of research. Do not aim for perfection as there's no such thing. Relax, deep breath and jump around if you need to shake off any stress and smile.
take a break! Being 35 weeks is no easy fete, so give your body a rest. Having a three year old will keep you running too, so just put the challenge on the back burner. You have 3 more weeks to finish and just because you wanted to do 100 doesn't mean you can't do 90 or 80 or 30. Its just for fun so try not to let it stress you out. Babies don't like stress I am in the challenge for thirty and have lately been getting a little discouraged. I think it has something to do with the 1st week being over. I hubbed about how I felt. Maybe you should do that. It was easy and quick to write, I added a hub to the challenge list, and I felt a little better afterward. Best of luck in the challenge, and best of luck with the almost here little one!! Enjoy these last five weeks by taking it easy, if you can. I know that's easier said than done with a 3yr old
I have 25 hubs. I'll make 30 and then I'll never to this again. If I'm going to have requirements I'll want to be paid for it.
Pete no one is making you do anything ... I personally write hubs to make money - so yes I am paid for it
The Challenge was that....a challenge. It was voluntary. Nothing happens to you if you don't do it. You can say you'll do 100 and do none and nothing happens, folks. It was just something fun to do if someone WANTED to do it. I chose to do 30 in 30 and I've done 14 so far.
Enjoy what you can, forget the rest!
Aiden, don't stress yourself over writing a 100 hubs. There is no shame in not making it. It is a monumental task, an even ridiculously so I would say. 100 hubs of 500-600 words each (a short, but still plausibly "valuable information" length hub) represents a writing output of 50,000 to 60,000 words over the contest length.
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) takes place every year with the goal of cranking out a novel (a "novel" by definition is usually around 50,000-60,000 words). Pumping out that kind of volume is a massive undertaking, and one that is admittedly brutal - and THOSE people have the added benefit of using NaNoWRiMo as a means to fulfill what is often a life long dream of completing a novel.
I doubt you have spent much of your life dreaming about writing 100 hubs, so, that sort of emotional impetus is totally missing from your bag of self-motivational tricks. In addition, the NaNoWriMo is pointed at getting a FIRST DRAFT onto paper, not something you publish and let people see. So, given the even more brutal nature of the 100 hubs thing, I think there is no disgrace whatever if you should fall short of 100 hubs. Go lay down and eat an ice-cream and salami sandwich like an unstressed pregnant woman should.
Put your feet up girl and rest....my last one arrived at 36 weeks!
Don't feel too bad about it! I originally 'committed' to writing 100. I've only written 6, I think? I decided to take some summer courses towards my degree on a last minute whim so I don't have as much time on my hands as I originally had thought. I'm just writing at my leisure when I feel like it and writing about things that I find are fun to learn more about. I might get 30 done, but I'm not going to force myself to write hubs just for the sake of it. I'd get bored too easily.
Well...thank you all for the support...feels good that I am not the only one struggling and that everyone is understanding! I am thinking that I will aim for 30 hubs in 30 days and can actually make that (as long as nothing else creeps up). I ended up in the hospital with false labor on Tuesday of last week and haven't really gotten back into writing since then (just not feeling all that well), but there is a little time left and I have quite a few hubs already written.
We will see...all in all, not going to kill myself if I don't make it! :-P
OK I finally have to admit that I can't keep up. I try to give an honest read to every writer that I am a fan of but I am now overwhelmed. This challenge is having people crank out four to eight hubs a day each and that ads up to more reads that I can do in a day and still do someting useful. So I must officially apologize to my fellow hubbers if I quickly scan some of your hubs and not comment.
I'm not going to make it either. I don't know if I'll even make the 30. What with hand problems and basic health problems I'm just not into it any more. Still, I'm happy I have done 18 so far, that is more than I have ever done in 2 weeks...
I am at 43 hubs for the challenge. I'm going to post another 7 hubs to make 50. Maybe a few more after that, But all the way to 100, probably not going to happen. =P
Wasn't it 30 hubs in 100 days?
No?
Oops, I guess I'm out too!
(And I'm not even pregnant!)
Seriously, I was all gassed up about it at first, but then I heard from several freelance clients and got waylayed. At this point, there's no way.
I think I'm up to 25, committed to 100, and I totally forgive myself in advance for my abject failure.
I know how it feels. I am struggling too! But I do not plan to give up easily. I am at 55 now and have to write another 45.
Writing my first comment on this HubChallenge thingy
Feel it was not as that good idea for all who joined... its always not easy to churn out ~4hubs a day ..esp for those who really are in , for a well written hub for anything-- Passion of Writing or Money making any way.. some may complete it .. depends on their caliber
30 hubs in 30 days is a good idea what say?
I am on for 30 hubs in 100days - 30-in-100 Challenge ... anybody with me...lol
I too am struggling, but hey, I know I'm on target to create 50 hubpages and that is quite good for me at least, so failure is a probability in the numbers of hubpages, but in another way it's made me get on with publishing my draft hubpages that only had titles and a few tags to their name.
And today I have experienced a boost in google traffic and it is do with my how to draw hubpages and that's a good thing, this challenge has pushed me to find what I really like to write about more, instead of writing what others may write in a slightly different way!
If it is too much you seriously should put your feet up,be proud of how many you did,and get your husband to pamper u,no-one flutters any lashes or raises one eyebrow with those who have already dropped out.
No worries, I think the challenge was more to show hubbers what is possible, its like the saying goes, shoot for the moon, and reach the sky.
Well...I certainly had my plans blown out of the water. Thursday I went to the doctor's in the morning and he sent me to the hospital. There I had tests done, and eventually they induced labor. I now have a beautiful baby girl born 5/28/09 at 8:37pm. She was 6 pounds and 19 inches long. I think it is better then completing the hub challenge...though I will still keep working on hubs!
For all those that are working hard...great for you. For all those struggling, it was a great idea, but certainly easier said then done.
I have no excuse for not writing a hundred hubs this month, except I have just not had enough inspiration. I really admire those who kept up with the hubchallenge, but those of us who did not keep up should not feel bad. The potential to write new hubs will be around after the hubchallenge is over.
I'm glad I tried for 100, but 50 in 30 days seems to be my max. Partly this is because there is so much off-site work to do to make a hub shine in the search engines. Every hub requires 4 or 5 "something elses" to make them pop. That's a lot of writing for 3 or 4 hubs daily. And without the "something elses" the hubs don't produce as well.
But it's nice to know my current limit. I now know what I have to do to become more productive. And that makes the hubchallenge worth it.
Oh, and congrats on the beautiful baby to Aidenofthetower.

I understand some people are worried about the "antiHubChallenge" or whatever it's called, and I just wanted to say something on a personal level to get my own thoughts out in the open about it. And this is my PERSONAL view - yes, we do have a HubChallenge team and we...

I'm just coming back after a several year hiatus, and one of the most exciting things that started when I was here was the HubChallenge. Originally, it was 30 hubs in 30 days. Now I see it's changed to either updating your hubs or 30 hubs in 60 days. I tried the original once, and I failed...

Those who have been around awhile know that I personally prefer starting Hub Challenges that coincide with calendar months. It's just easier to keep up with what day you're on. I play to write and publish 30 hubs during the month of March. If you've been contemplating joining a HubChallenge,...

Those of you who have completed their 30 in 30 days challenge, how did it go?Did you see any rise in traffic and profits? And how was the overall experience? As for me...I learned a lot from all that stuff Darkside, Ryan and other expereinced hubbers posted over here. Yes the traffic did rise, thus...
