I love homemade air popped corn with butter. The theater popcorn seems artificial to me. Am I the only one who feels like a cow eating processed corn at the movies?

I do not like popcorn at all so you are not the only one.

I absolutely hate movie theater popcorn. Maybe it's because of the prices, maybe because once it made me horribly ill, either way! I love the smell, but I won't eat it.

Hate it. Makes me have a headache. It has a ton of peanut oil in it and it's terrible for you (I worked at a movie theater as a kid - maybe this is why I hate it).  It does smell good, I will admit.

I never thought about popcorn at the movies as being processed food, but I guess it is.   I happen to love popcorn although I don't eat that much of it these days.   I can't really tell the difference from the popcorn I eat at home from the one I eat at the movies..

I just don't get popcorn. To me, it's like eating polystyrene packing beads coated with sugar.

I dislike popcorn too. It reminds me of those awful sweets that you could get when I was a kid, flying saucers. You had too chew on some awful polystyrene type substance, just to get to the sherbet inside. I met an American woman through a friend once, who said I hadn't tried popcorn the right way, it should have salt sprinkled on it not sugar. Eww, it was even worse.

The last time I had theater popcorn (and it has to be the butter kind), it was two years ago; and I paid $5 for a very small bag of it.  Before then, I think it was around 1990 that I got myself one of those big cups of butter popcorn (not the bucket - just the big cup).  Maybe there was one before that, in the early 1980's.

Anyway, having pointed out that it's a very rare indulgence for me, I love it!   big_smile

I've yet to taste anyone's homemade popcorn that I liked better than movie popcorn.  lol

As long as my husband's BUYING the movie popcorn ($$$) and the super sugary drinks ($$$), I'm eating and drinking the stuff.  I'm not sweating its lack of nutritional value because it's not like I'm eating this junk every day of my life.

Based on that $10 popcorn "bill" I had two years ago, when I bought a little bag for myself and the person I was with; I think people should be more worried about the heart attack from being told their popcorn will cost them $10 for a few ounces than from the one they might get from eating popcorn once in a great while.  smile

I used to eat it and never had a problem with it. Now, I don't eat much popcorn at all anymore. hmm

I don't like theater popcorn either, but if someone else buys and I happen to want a taste then maybe I'll eat someone. I don't like most popcorn except for kettle corn because it's not too buttery or salty when done right.

Alecia, remind me not to buy any if I'm ever around you.  I'd hate to be responsible for someone's being eaten.   Canibalism at the theater can really ruin an evening out.   smile               (oh...  I know typos happen.  I just couldn't resist.  smile )

They sell this popcorn now that you can make at home and it tastes just like theater popcorn. There's also a buttery salt that you can add that tastes like the theater stuff. I love it - especially the NEXT day! smile

I loved it when I was a kid, but the last few times I've been out to a theater, the popcorn was either dry, or slightly burnt, and generally awful.  I don't know if it's just the particular movie theater we go to, but it's been just the pits.

I don't know about the theaters in your area, but in ours they don't pop the corn on site. It comes in giant plastic bags and they dump it into the glass faced display.

I can't imagine why anyone would pay ten dollars for bagged popcorn. It certainly doesn't taste fresh like home made.

I really like theater popcorn when it's freshly made w/out butter. Yum! Yum!

I love theater popcorn, probably too much. Add some salt and jalapinoes and it is perfect!
The last few times when we ate theater popcorn, I ate so much that I had stomach problems!

I've had this same thing happen to me, probably too much fiber all at once.
