The Universe is really big, wouldn't the god of the solar system or maybe even god of the planet earth make more sense? How about god of the middle east? That would explain the insanity.
The insanity has already been explained without local intervention.
Is there a touch of mockery in what you say! God is the God of everything, there is no God of the Middle East specific. What's happening is not insanity but people demanding their rights for freedom and democracy which has been long held at bay and dictators and which many outside powers supported.
God of the Middle east? It's the same god of the Christians, Muslims, and Jews. By the way, all three are Middle Eastern man made religions.
I wonder if they would all like to move back there?
Maybe if we had all the religiously inept in one place they would kill each other off over who has the right invisible friend?
That could save all the sane people from their filthy morals and hate-fests.
One day, we all will be together in peace my friend
Not based on any biblical god we won't!
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)
You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)
Neurotic homophobic little god isn't he?
Nice little change of topic there earnest
And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
Based on 'any biblical God', all those that serve him will live together in peace... one day.
Why don't you address the neurosis of the scripture that created your belief system?
If you want to discuss any particular points, I'm glad to. I just don't appreciate when someone says 'No, you're wrong', and instantly changes subjects. From the possibility of living in peace, to the apparent 'neurosis' of scripture, is an example of what I consider a change of topic
What specifically, would you like to go over first?
The topic as I recall was "How about god of the middle east."
You skip over any scripture that shows your beliefs in a bad light I see.
Are you another one with an invisible friend that I am too stupid/evil/driven by satan/unspiritual/hateful to understand?
How will you prove that you are right?
Will you accuse me of doing satan's work? Or did you have some new innovative form of showing superiority?
Let's start from the beginning(where I came in):
I came in and said that we will all 'go back' there together, in peace. It will just happen after a lot of war, unfortunately.
you responded:
You said, based on a biblical God, we won't live together in peace, and followed it up with scriptures about arrogance, sorcery, and homosexuality. I'm sorry but I don't see how that applies to different cultures and religions living in peace. As I said before, a change of topic. I'd be happy to discuss any of those scriptures with you, if you'll just tell me which ones, so our conversation can be structured instead of jumbled(as it has been).
I tried to bring it back to the topic of living together in peace that you attempted to refute with passages about other topics with the following:
to which you replied
Again, changing topics. I decided to change with you, but I wanted to make sure we knew what we were discussing, so I asked you to clarify
and you clarified the topic you would like to discuss with the following
And I still don't know what exactly you want to talk about. As I said before, I didn't want to try and address 3 different scriptures about 3 different topics with you at the same time, if we can't stick to one topic at a time already. So again, I ask, what specifically would you like to discuss?
Specifically nothing any more.
I have had all the word soup and avoidance I need thanks.
You changed topic on me, I only asked for clarification.
If you change your mind, I'll be happy to explain my point of view to you. You've asked me twice to do so, I just need you to tell me about what
Peace my friend.
Nah, I'm good. I have the information I wanted.
Say what you will, you can but say what you are.
Hi ernest. One point to ponder. You said You skip over any scripture that shows your beliefs in a bad light I see.
You fail to give quarter to the reality that a person's beliefs are their individual beliefs. If that person doesn't recognize that passage as pertinent......that is their belief. You can't shove a belief down their throat and expect them to attempt to ingest it. They will spit it back because that is your belief; not theirs. Any attempt to push your belief on someone else is fundamentalism.
I don't need to push my beliefs Emile, it's all in the "good book" of truth.
Either it is not true, or it is true, the words are easy enough to read, in or out of each religionists idea of what "context" it is supposed to be in.
The real issue, earnest, is you saying that I skip over scriptures, but I offered to discuss them with you. You are the one skipping, not me. Pick one and we'll talk.
You like to riverdance around the bush, don't you.
I agree Earnest. And yes, some day, emridphx.
It's funny how the God of the Middle East kept the existence of the Americas a secret for so long.
Let me be the first to say blah blah infinite lord blah blah supreme infinite blah blah blah.
There have been thousands of gods worshipped in man's history. It is simply a matter of politics and geography, that three religious beliefs, which have their origins in the Bronze Age Middle East have taken over much of the world. Had things been different, we may now be worshipping Zeus.
Zeus is more famous for taking the shape of animals and somehow seducing human women, whereas the other god is famous for smiting everything while it insists how much it loves those it is smiting. I'll take Zeus anyday.

Do you think the Middle East will ever be peacefull?is it a realistic idea that peace will ever occur for the middle east as a whole or is it always going to be a hot-bed for violence?

I have little to say about Biden's speech to the Nation, other than it was a typical political speech. Filled to the brim with half-truths, and fluffy BS plans that will not make it to see the light of day. . He made an effort to point out what he felt were accomplishments that he seems to feel he...

Why do people make "goat" jokes when they talk about ISIS and the Middle East? What is with the goats? Why do they bring them up? What part do they play in the culture?

I've seen writers use "Blah blah blah" instead of etc,. Is it a correct form of usage?

We've seen a lot of threads on the uprisings in Egypt and Libya that have spread throughout the Middle East/Asian Muslim population. There has been speculation: Is all this violence really about some schlocky, tasteless anti-Islam movie? Is it an indemnification of failed Obama administration...
