Are you a sleeping Christian?

I found this poem and thought I'd share it.

    "Are you a sleeping Christian?
Can you not discern the times?
If you were watching for Him,
    you'd surely see the signs!

    They mock our Christian morals,
    and hate our friends, the Jews;
to see how values have collapsed,
you’ve but to watch the news!

The “alternate” lifestyle is the norm,
    true marriage has no worth.
When the Bridegroom comes for us,
will He find faith on earth?

    Earthquakes and storms abound,
    and famine’s on the rise.
If our precious Savior came today,
would you meet Him in the sky?

Time is shorter than you think,
    put eternity on your mind.
If you’re not ready when He comes,
you may well be left behind!

Have you lost your love for Him?
Do you not serve Him any more?
You’d best wake up, for when He calls,
if you’re asleep, He’ll shut the door"

Great poem.  A wake-up call, pardon the pun, for Christians.

Very good. I especially like the part about "true marriage has no worth". You must be referring to the above 50% divorce rate in traditional marriages?

    Here's another one for ya:

Don't Give me that Old Time Religion.

Religion and I have a problem
    we just can't get along.
I've tried a few faiths and churches
    but something always goes wrong.

I believe in God no trouble,
though he never pops in for tea.
But I suspect that as far as religion goes
He's no more impressed than me.

Cristian Morals?  Like killing for christ, or what ever the holly rollers of the day decifer as the "Word of God" that was written by men to achive their own goals.  What of Saul, who became, a Paul, who wrote a good chunk of the Christian Bible?  Here is a man who persecuted Christians for a living.  When the Emperer of the time took on a Christian for his lover, the man had the forsight to, uh “See the light”.   This was a blatant CYOA  (cover your own ass).  Oh look, the tide has turned, I must go with the bandwagon.   Having persecuted Christians long enough, he knew a bit of what to say.  So he practiced his street preaching.  Sharpened his tongue.  Got ahead.  We all know about people like this, who’s opinion change with what is popular.  And this man wrote the book.   And you have the audacity to say that God wrote the book.   God no more wrote the book then this paragraph.  And no, Satan did not write it either.
This is one christian who went to sleep to wake up.

I must be a "sleeping agnostic"....Have never really believed in the "God", "Heaven", or "Hell" theories. I believe we are products of our parents, born to be generally a good and responsible person. Our life on earth is what we make it out to be and then we die.

Well, they certainly beat the poem, but a bit too SF-fantasy for my liking.

Most Christians today only talk about their faith, not walk it. If the Christians really did stand up and walk their faith this country would not be in the situation it is today. Slaughtering millions of innocent children is not a characteristic of a Christian nation. God blesses the righteous actions of a righteous nation. "The prayers of a humble man availeth much." This nation is not humble. Christians are not active in spreading their faith. They are not active in showing Christ's love. We have blended in with a nation of hypocrites and shallow feelings.

A man went to church one sunday and the preacher didnt like his attire
It was ragged jeans and shirt ,so he asked the man to come the next sunday to ask God what he would approve of for him to wear.
The next sunday he wore the same thing, and the preacher asked why he didnt wear something else?
The guy replied "I Asked God what I should wear here, and he said he didnt know because he had never been in this church either "
    wink

Wonderful Story!  Almost as good as the poem.  It tells me we are what we are.  I keep my mind on the goal, but it is not easy...just driving to work today, I asked myself is it worth it.  I decided, "Yes, more than worth it".

People often make fun of me, I am naive and clueless and love it.  There are certain things in life I do not want to understand and will not understand (no matter how many times they are shown to me).  Innocence is a special thing and I try very hard to hold onto it.

Thanks for the poem and thanks for the story!

Very nice poem, and thank you so much for not tryng to be slick and rationalize with us non-beleivers, I appreiciate that you put it out there and just preach. So many Christians try to meet us where we are at when they are not there, it hurts their cause more than they think. Thanks again. Danny

Do others mock Christian morals more than Christians mock the morals of others?  What will happen to people true to other faiths when the Savior arrives?

well the Bible does say that Jesus' very own bride has even fallen asleep.  the bride is the church of christ, the christians... all of them are asleep.

Course there are those who still think they are awake yet they declare the bible is the truth so I guess the truth is they are pretty sleepy. big_smile
