Facebook Question

   Hi all! 
   It's been quite a while, I know-perhaps I'll write a hub about the whole sordid experience soon, but for now I have a problem with our friend Facebook.  Here's the email I received.
   
   Hi, Your account was disabled because it was in violation of Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Sending messages or friend requests that are unsolicited, harassing, or spam is prohibited. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to reactivate your account or respond to your email directly. This decision is final and cannot be appealed.    Now I am truly stumped since I don't think I've done any of the above, but since the 'decision is final...', I suppose I have no recourse.  I do want an account with them, but how do I do such a thing with the same email address, etc.?  Won't they think I'm trying to do some sock puppet dance or attempting to fake my identity?
   
   I no longer have a PC in my home-soon to be remedied, I hope-but I do check in occasionally at the local coffee house, so I truly look forward to your input here.  Nice, oh so nice to be back!!!!!!!

      That's easy - set up a new email address at gmail or wherever.  But you'd have to use a totally different name. 
      
      The question is, I suppose, what did you want your Facebook page for?  If it's to keep in touch with friends, then having to use another name wouldn't really work.  If it's to share your Hubs, then maybe that's what got you in trouble in the first place?
      
      You could try sending an email to disabled@facebook.com

      Welcome back Lorie! I have missed seeing you around. That is horrible that you have been banned from FaceBook. I have never heard of that happening before. I hope you are able to get it worked out.

      Just wondering if you made friend requests that are unanswered? I also had problems with that before. what I did..I went and removed the friend requests and somehow it became okay.

         Hi all-Thanks for replying!  Well, I do intend to keep pestering them until they give in and explain themselves (if they will!), and Susan, I'm not sure who'd dislike me, though I'm SURE I rub some the wrong way.  Haha!  I unfortunately never received a warning so I can't go back and fix whatever it is they think I did.  They simply won't tell me of my exact crime.
         ripplemaker, I did make a friend request that was never answered, but as I said, I can't get to my account at all, so I can't remove it-or anything else!

      It doesn't surprise me lorlie6 as I got a warning after sending friends requests to strangers. The fact that they shared the same interest as me made me think it would be OK.
      
      Probably someone didn't like it and reported me. I thought Facebook was also about making new friends as well as contacting known friends

   I checked out the site that leahlefler suggested, attempted to plead my case-all to no avail.  Apparently FB has no intention of letting me know exactly what my crime was, nor will they respond to my repeated inquiries.  Ah, hell.  I'm not sure how to deal with this exactly.  Marisa, my account was to stay in touch with folks, so a brand new name would indeed do no good.
   Anyone have other ideas? 
   Facebook is NOT my world, but it was engaging and fun-I would like to 'go back' there, somehow!

   I feel for you with some of the things I have seen on facebook it worries me that you can loose your account so easily , with people talking about their lives but not talking to the people involved. I think you should fight to get your account back unless they can give you a good reason why you lost your account in the first place.

   I'm sorry you lost your account. I learned how it can be on Facebook when someone flagged me for abuse for a completely innocuous comment on a page. I got logged off, got a warning and had to read the TOS before I could get back on. So, it can happen very easily if someone doesn't like you.

      Yes, there are way too many apps and scams being passed along in status updates and once you click on those it grants access to your account.  One that I know of is the one that says something like "wow now I can see who is checking out my profile, I should be blushing. if you want to see who is checking you out then go here" with a link that will definitely hijack your account.
      
      This may be a silly question but did you try to log in to your account directly lorlie? Sometimes those are fake emails that allow unscrupulous users to hack your account.

   Shinkicker, the friend request I think was the problem was to an old high school friend of mine who's in show biz now, so maybe she thinks I was trying to cash in on that or something...I don't know.  Hey, Anthony!  Yes, it is possible my account was hacked-FB even gives you the option to claim that possibility on one of their forms.  I filled it out, but they don't believe me.  livewithrichard, when I started playing with the apps there I went sort of nuts, newbie to computers and the Internet, you see!  So I may have entered some sort of bizarre place-I trusted far too much-it's still hard for me to believe there is such creepy sh*t out there.
   Ah, well, HP is still on my side!  THAT'S quality!

      Well, obscure words are not necessarily good passwords.  Length is more important nowadays.
      
      But more likely you are at risk from other activities.

         It HAS, I know-so many weird health issues going on out here!  Accchhhh, I won't go into it here, but suffice it to say that I'm okay and will try not to be absent from HP so much!
