I keep reading people calling Obama a socialist. Does anyone know what a socialist is?  A Socialist is the beliefe that no one person owns land. Socialism is advocating collective or governmental ownership of all goods. A society where there is no "private property". President Obama is not a socialist.  People throw this word around, and have no idea of it's meaning.

"People throw this word around, and have no idea of it's meaning."

This is what passes for intelligent political discourse these days.
It's not so much what you say as how you say it. Button pushing.

"Happy tax season: Red states get 30 cents more federal spending per tax dollar than blue states."

Maybe we should chaneg it to welfare states? smile

tsk tsk...biting the hand that feeds you more!

Socialism is not welfare, this massive misconception is pretty tragic, the tagline of many socialist rebellions was "he who does not work neither shall he eat" what socialists believe in is people getting a fair share of what they produce, dignified treatment for workers and only people who do actual work getting paid for it, ie. the idea that a man can become wealthy just by owning something is aberrant.

Welfarism is not socialism, under socialism people only get what they earn but they earn a fair share, Obama is no socialist and I say that as a member of several socialist groups and as former member of a socialist resistance in my home country.

        That will be the day.

In the UK, the worst fears have been dealt with by the creation of a national health system and there is a minimum social safety net.

But it is still just your average dog eat dog society.

I'm British, I have lived in England all of my life. As you appear to be more knowledgeable about this country than I am, could you please advise where us Brits can obtain this free housing and live a work free life for the rest of our lives? Really, I'm curious.

If you saw what we (and the poor/unemployed) paid for housing in the UK it would make your hair curl!

Obama is not a socialist, China is a typically socialism country.

And out of the other side of their mouths the same people decry the fact that Obama doesn't solve the unemployment problem by instantly creating jobs or use his magic socialist POTUS powers to lower gas prices.

I don't think any other President could have done what Obama did.  Obama cared, he thought about giving people something, no one notice the hugh tax break until they filed their taes. Obma, gave the rich an extension so the republicans would approve longer unemployment insurance.  Cash to clunkers..no one noticed he gave special tax breaks to employers to help keep jobs.  But we were in such a deep hole, it looked like he did nothing.  If there had been a republican Pres..we would be worse off..but Obama still makes me angry!

Republicans want to say the stimulus ifn't work ah! we saw the changes, it was slow but steady..he had to fight congress for everything he asked for to help the people...it made him look weak and wimpy.

I don't see him as weak and wimpy at all.

Those things on the other side have NO morals...that's the difference. They will do ANYTHING. Anything.

This country needs to stand againt them, and stop leaving it all up to Obama.

"nearly 90 percent of the money flowing through the Karl Rove-associated group has come from as few as two dozen anonymous donors, two of whom gave at least $10 million each.

The group, known for funding hard-hitting attack ads against congressional Democrats in the 2010 elections, has said that it and its sister group, American Crossroads, intend to spend $300 million in this year's elections. Most recently, Crossroads GPS spent $1.7 million on television ads attempting to blame President Barack Obama for high gas prices."

See what I mean? They have to know that Obama does not control the gas prices...wall street speculators do.

But they spend 1.7 million dollars to LIE!

Romney blasted Obama yesterday at the NRA. but--"Asked which specific gun rights the president has abridged since taking office, a Romney adviser would not say."

They don't care if what they-- HE-- says is true...they (he) says it anyway. That is either a pathological liar or a psychopath, in my opinion.

and all I could think of when I saw NRA was Trayvon Martin.  And when Ann Romney started to say something about things being said about women, I was hoping she would slam Rush for calling us sl*ts.

Ann Romney is only going to talk about the economy.  She's "stumping" for Hubby.  He wants her to steer the rheortic. that for this election, women only want to hear about "economics" (l0l) because that's what Mitt wants to talk about..he thinks he can beat Obama talking about the economy..  Rush is an idion and high on Oxycodon..he means less than nothing.

...if we spent all the energy we use trying to destroy one another, toward creating ways of helping each other, things would be a lot better...but the ole ego has to be correct and the other wrong...

name calling....just like how liberal use to mean something conservative.  The main point as far as I can see is that civilization would be better off is we taught others how to fish to feed themselves and reduced government to its Constitutional size and let the 50 states people and local government hammer out the details for their unique area needs

First you have to have an honest discussion. And I see it as Dems having to spend all their time defending against lies.

Cannot bring a knife to a gun fight.

You want an honest discussion, come with an honest intent.
