      As a Veteran I paid for my health care by volunteering and serving.
      
      Nothing is free.
      
      And I don't use the health care they provide, I would rather keep my appendages rather than lose them by Physician incompetence.
      
      Which is exactly what you get with single payer systems.
      
      But I am glad that you have awakened to the fact that government run health care is socialism.
      
      It shows growth on your part.

         And also the southern states are subsidized by the Blue states as far as taxes are concerned. They are welfare states as states like California and Illinois take care of them. If that stops they will be in a world of hurt.

      I don't know if I would call Republicans socialists, but I like how you are broadening the definition of the term. Big government is big government, whether it is the military, prison system, medicare, financial regulation, or whatever.

      Lot of stereotyping going on here....All Southerners are R's? Only Southerners serve? White(or any other race/ethnic) left wing Democrats are NOT allowed to serve? Sounds like a bunch of poorly thought out generalizations.
      
      By the way the VA DOES NOT support "single payer" for all of the DOD. In some case's your statements are not even factual.......but I guess that doesn't matter when your playing "gotcha game" politics. By the way, what have the Democrats done to get rid of the graft in DOD contracting? It was a big story during the campaign. Haliburton? Blackwater? What about getting rid of the Patriot Act? Closing down GITMO?
      
      "a ward of the state" I guess we have learned alot about your attitude towards the Service Men and Women our country! It couldn't possibly be that many men and women volunteer to SUSPEND their personal freedoms for the sake of protecting yours...of course not. They are just lazy, poor white trash who want to play with guns......that is if they come from the south and are Republicans. Substitute ANY number of other groups in that statement and you have RACISM. Put white, southern, republican and you somehow have justice......GOTCHA!

      Socialism programmed people in all strata of life. This is why progressives are socialists/communists and many republicans are infected. It is in our schools and TV... everywhere. I did make payroll and I paid SS and it is not immoral when by force my money was taking and not receiving it back. It is not socialism, at least I am not.... I know, I know you are not talking about SS. But the same time I paid also to my employees unemployment benefit. You cannot blame me when I receive SS but did not make that laws. Blame those who made SS rules.

      In this issue, every other citizen is "brother".
      But those who cannot literally fend for themselves are the ones we have a responsibility to take care of.   The rest----there are ways of encouraging them or teaching them or whatever avenues are available to help them lead productive lives.
