I wrote an article back near the later half of 2011. This was a niche that normally does not pick up a lot of traffic right away (HEALTH,WORKOUT RELATED). After months it may have gathered about 2000 views.
Now all of a sudden, I saw an increase in traffic today. Turns out, this article nearly has 1000 views overnight!
While I have seen this type of traffic increase before, I HAVE NEVER seen this with this type of niche because it's an "evergreen topic." I mean, some of my hubs are somewhat evergreen, but this one is more so.
Could my article have been featured somewhere? That is the only explanation I can think of.
I have heard of people re-posting articles somewhere only for them to claim it as their own. I am thinking that you got a lot of retweets or mentioned on Facebook, and someone who is interested in your niche took an interest. If I were you, I would enjoy the ride. The same thing happened to me.
If you don't ever see the traffic in Analytics, it's not valid traffic and could be a 'bot of some sort. You'll want to keep an eye on that. Other people have seen similar phenomena.
Yep, I think it was bots.
Too bad. What are search engine bots generally doing when they are looking at websites and articles across the web?
They may not be search engine bots, they could be malicious bots of some kind. For instance, email harvesters, or bots used to scrape HubPages content and publish it elsewhere, or bots which try to hack into a web page and post malicious code, backlinks or advertising, or spambots posting spam comments.
That does not sound good! I sure hope not. There seems to be a lot of that going around HubPages lately. I can not tell you how much I dislike people who steal others work, extreme spam, or write nonsense words that are not relevant just to promote something.
I did seem to make more money when I saw this traffic increase.
I don't know what's the case as far as what you saw. You'd have to go to Google's AdSense help pages and read what they have to say about traffic tthat they disregard and don't count.

I'm assuming that this is due to some bot crawling my website. I have hits on seasonal stuff that hasn't seen a keystroke for several months. Some ideas of which bot it might be?

Has there been another update from Google? I ask since my views have been dropping rapidly every hour since the past 6 hours. Surprisingly the total views in the stats has remained stationary since the same time.Stats on analytics do not show any abnormal drop in visitors or views. Are other hubbers...

We had this same problem a couple of weeks ago and it was resolved. Same problem again today though, so I'm reporting it. (If we don't report problems, how can we expect them to be fixed?)1 day stats are abnormally low, so I checked the stats on an individual hub. The 'day' stat there is...

I'm not complaining but my traffic has doubled overnight (still only a 10th of the good old days)And it's not just one article receiving a boost. Every article bar one has views in the last 24 hours. I have been saving articles but that would only account for one view per hub and that was a few...

Hi,Around a week ago, (could be longer, I don't always check), I noticed that my daily page view figures had suddenly plummeted from several hundred to just tens. Of course this could be explained away by an overnight drop in my hub popularity - except for the fact that I'm also getting...

WTH happened overnight with my account? I just checked my stats and my page views are almost at an all time low - even lower than after the Panda update. Now down to 700 views (after subdomains was about 5,000 views a day - since then been hovering at around 2 - 2,500 views a day) That's a drop in...
