Old profile page, if you've switched, is there anything you miss?

I love the new profile page, it looks better, I like that you can choose which hubs to feature. One thing I miss about the old set-up is that I could see at a glance which of the people I'm following had recently posted a hub. That feature seems to be gone. Is there anything you miss about the old profile page?

That's how I feel. I was confused when editing my profile by the list of people to block, but finally figured it out. So far I've not felt the need to block anyone. I really like the bigger pictures, but I found that in Safari it took forever for all the pictures to load -- minutes rather than seconds. I also miss being able to supply our own links in the profile. Other than that, I think the new profile is a great improvement.

At first I didn't like the suggested other hubbers you might like, but now that I see it changes, and you're not stuck with the same ones all the time, I like it better. I have actually checked some of them out and found some interesting stuff.

I haven't hopped on to the new one yet.  The change makes me a bit apprehensive as it happens to be irrevocable. So, I just want to take some time before switching to the new one...
Meanwhile, you could acquaint me with the kind of limitations the new profile has, if any...

Try it out with a new or alternate HP account first to see if you like it before switching. But eventually all profiles will be like this anyway.

I miss how the old profile didn't show who you are following, having a larger profile picture and not having "others you might like."

      Lol - nicely done.

I agree with those points but I like the new page.  I think it increases the possibility that the person who lands on it will choose a page of mine to read.  I don't think they will give a care who I am following or about other related authors.

They might just see the big picture on a featured page and read it.

The ability to feature your hubs so prominently is the best thing about the new profile page. I really wish we could showcase all of our hubs in groups of our choosing.

Yes I agree, I don't really like the idea of people checking who I am following to be honest, but other than that I don't mind the new profile.

I guess, I took the right decision by not upgrading it. I'm  pretty happy with the old one...

I really do like the new one better, there are still a couple of things I would change though.

Before too long, the entire site will be updated to the new style.  So it's not like you are actually avoiding this change.

I changed my background pic ,but I dont see it. Has that happened to anyone else?

And it only allows for me to change it once? Odd.

I do not understand why that is happening. I tried 3 different background photos, before I found one that worked in a way that I liked.

I've changed my background picture several times.  You just upload a new one.

I haven't switched yet to the new profile, but in looking it over it seems that there's no 'Contact so-and-so' tab.  We can no longer contact the person who is in the profile.  Is that right?

The contact information is under 'fanmail' in the new profile.

I had a look.  When I go to Account (I think it's called) and then Activity and then Fanmail, I get the fanmail list.  So then if I want to press on someone's name there, it takes me to their account.  If they haven't switched to the new Profile, there is the Contact line, but if they're on the new Profile, I don't see any more Contact possibilities.

I don't like the way it shows how many we are following. I don't like that it doesn't show the score of the each hub. I know I can see my own on my account but often when I visit someone's hubs I check their scores and will comment on a lower score hub just to get that hub out there. I also don't like the way it shows people that are following me. I would rather see it as a list and not the way it is now. Other than those very few complaints I like it. (-:

Hi Pamela, If you go to the 'new' profile page of anyone who has switched, click on 'fanmail' and you will see an email contact link at the top in blue (highlighted). Try mine if you like.

Found it.  Thank you, snakeslane.  And your fanmail page and info has helped me realize a question I have -- which I'll be posting.  P.S.  I wonder if you were in any of my writing classes at UVIC.

I don't mind the new profile overall but I miss being able to put links in my profile text.

Finally, I have my question answered here...so it's all about the feature of the new profile. I was panic to see my referral code's link disappeared on my profile page with totally no idea frankly until I happen to be here to find out we can no longer to use HP referral code and own links once we switch to new profile, thanks everyone...

I haven't switched yet, but I can tell you that the new profile pages take way too long to load.  Google hates that!!!!!!!!!!!

The HubPages engineers need to optimize the pictures so that the profile pages download faster.

Also, the new, hidden, contact information is horrible.  Speaking for the animal writers on HubPages, we are going to rise up a protest against this!  Meet me in the underground!  Grrrrrrrrrrrr

    So refreshing.
