A thought about that first debate...

   Today I was watching the news and someone talked about how the media are the big winners with all the gigundo ad spending. Not to mention the constant spin cycle that has been like a dizzying rollercoaster.
   
   The thought occurred to me:
   Is it possible Obama threw the first debate like a fighter throws a fight?
   He was so far ahead in the polls after Romney's leaked 47% tape --
   What if the powers that be took the Prez aside and said, "Hey, dude, this is not cool. We can't afford to have this thing so lopsided. We still got a month and a half to go. You gotta let up on this guy..."
   
   Thoughts?

      What you brought up is a very interesting point.It is very possible that Obama didn't want to come on too strong right out of the gate. For sure we will know more the night of the election.

      Nope, I, personally believe, that Obama thought that the Dems may become a little bit complacent, given that it was Mittens that they were fighting! (in 2010, did the Dems loose lots of voters to the Repubs, or did the Dems not bother to vote?) I believe it was some kind of ploy to rally the base, get them riled, so they come out fighting.
      
      All those Dems who may not have agreed with everything O's done, or who may feel a little disappointed with O, might suddenly feel Dem enthused, when faced with the possibility of Mittens as Prez! But that, obviously, is just my opinion.

      If so MM, he made a big mistake...I tell you what has crossed my mind the most, what if the whole thing is a show...I did a lot of research lately for my last hub, I noticed a trend, how the prized seat bounces back and forth...we have a time of democratic policies only to shift directions, and this makes a lot of millionaires, at the expense of the little people. If it's a dog and pony show, they sure raise a lot of money...heck, if they both took all their donations and threw them at the debt that would make a very large dent...and would restore the America they both say they love so much...well back to your question, if he did, I sure wish he hadn't have taken such a gamble...with my personal freedoms on the line not to mention my 4 daughters...

      My first thoughts were that he was doing Muhammad Ali's "Rope a Dope"! I posted several times that he was doing that, but his mistake was this: you are not supposed to get knocked out!  ha ha.
      
      Someone else had a better idea, that the Pres. could not get a vision  of Romney because the man does not cast an image in a mirror!  By the second and third debates, he knew that he had to show America that Romney was the Seinfeld candidate: a big show about nothing.
      
      He came back in style, but I am astounded that a man like Romney would make so many mistakes, as with Syria and Iran. That was incredible.

         In fact, it's entirely possible I even participated in the thread.
         It's been a loooonnnnngggg campaignm and things that were covered weeks ago rapidly fade from consciousness.
         Consciousness itself fades.
         That's it.
         That's my excuse.
         I'm unconscious!
         (But still more with it than Donald Trump!)

            Welcome to having a senior moment. They suck and they do not get better LOL
            
            AS for the Debate, I do not think Obama threw the first debate, he was just out of it for whatever the reason. I still say it was because Michelle was pissed the debate was on anniversary night and she told Obama no sex tonight.
            
            I think these debates this year will go down as the worst in history, incompetent moderators and yes, not the best candidates either.
            
            Both sides were not that good, Obama fans say Obama won, Romney fans say Romney won. Would you expect anything else?
            
            I think both sides got out their points as well as their gaffes. I have read a ot of fact check sites for all the debates and it seems to me they side with Romney being more accurate than Obama. How accurate is that, I can only tell you in my own research I found the fact checkers to be wrong on a few of them, but overall, I agree with them.

      I mentioned in another post that I thought Obama might purposely have been holding back so that Romney would dump his entire plan on the table and that Obama would then use that information in later debates to nail him...which is essentially what happened.  This was just a thought and I have absolutely nothing to back it up except my knowledge of the fact that Obama is one very clever guy.

   President Obama "seemed out of it" not because he "threw the first debate" but because he had prepped for a totally different debate. He was fully prepared to counter Romney's positions on every issue. But Romney, of course, didn't state the positions he held for the last couple of years -- instead he pretty much took opposite positions (trying to look like a moderate.) The president was reluctant to completely abandon his debate strategy in the face of all those lies Romney put forward , , , so he remained relatively silent. Obama did not want to come right out and call Romney a liar (that would have resulted in a right wing TV ad campaign that could have spelled disaster for Obama.) So he let Romney dig his own grave. Obama looked bad in that debate, but Romney's double-talk performance worked against the Republicans in the long run.
