I don't even know if this is for real or not, but I found this link on the internet

    https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petiti … t/1wrvtngl

Does anybody know anything about it?

Well if they had a referendum on it and passed it it wouldn't be any great loss from my perspective if they want to secede they obviously are not patriots and Louisiana is a massive economic drain on the country like most of the deep red deep South States.

Yes, but it does suck to lose that coastline.

Oh, once again, the rumble of Ft. Sumter!
This is utter nonsense from a bunch of sore losers, there is no chance that the majority of Louisiana residents would sit through such idiocy.Liiking at the bright side, we can possible gain Puerto Rico to replace it. The extremists promoting this stuff are coming from the south, the region  is a pretty mixed bag in an ethnic kind of way and it will never sell!

There are at least 22 states that want to secede from the union. Hopefully this link works for you... it even has a video of what Fox News is saying about the whole thing.

I haven't heard of this but they could join Texas in secession! I love Louisiana I'm pretty sure the state colors are camouflage.

Checking on the internet, it seems that residents in 15 states have filed petitions.  I don't think this really means much, as you can file a petition on just about anything.  Just seems like some angry disgruntled people trying to make a statement.  Here's a link http://www.examiner.com/article/citizen … ed-states.

I wasn't there but I remember stories of the last time a few states tried to secede...

I also seem to recall something about a deal called the "Louisiana purchase" - does that mean the federal govt. owns that particular patch of land, along with a few more acres?

How wonderful that would be. How unlikely that would be.

Louisiana is my birthplace. Even though I haven't been there in over 40 years, I'd still rather have it be part of the US.

Quebec has been threatening to leave Canada ever since I got here over 40 years ago. They are still a part of Canada smile Most of the population know where their bread is buttered and that they could not survive without the rest of the country. I'm assuming it is the same in Louisiana, Texas and all the other states threatening to cecede.

They have been saying that for a while and it really wouldn't make a difference.. The only "deep red south state" they care to keep is Texas..

Petitions up to all 50 states.
I think this new online petition site has really made this kind of petition easy to do.

But as to Louisiana, Governor Jindal is showing himself to be a rational and reasonable Republican, refuting Romney's claims that Obama won solely due to "gifts" to minority groups.
And even Rick Perry, governor of Texas, is saying secession is not right for his state.
