Traffic down by more than 50% in last two days. Could this be due to HP maintenance or is it another Google slap?
Just when my Sweetpacks hub has been showing great signs of life things are reversing, and I see no major announcement.
Did the recent HP maintenance affect traffic?
I don't think that the Google differences in traffic were HubPages specific. I did a search on Monday, November 19 and received a lot of spam-filled search results (none of which were from HP) then did the same search on Tuesday, November 20 and all of the spam sites were no longer in the search results. I think Google is working to "clean up" results, most likely in response to Bing's claims that they have the better search results. This is my theory anyway.
I think not, because my traffic has increased by about 20%. In my case, there is nothing to complain about . So, maybe you will get your old traffic back. Sometimes, it's just bad luck and you will have your normal traffic back. Happened to me too.
Hi well said. My traffic to my hubs has been down over the past couple of days. I wondered why this was.
Traffic seems really good for me in the past 24 hours, but aside from that, for the past hmmm two weeks, it's been lower than usual. Not low enough to freak out, but definitely low enough for me to notice.
Sorry if that's vague, but that's what I've got going on... vague traffic changes.
My traffic was up the past few days, but today's traffic is down by more than 300 views. I'm hoping it is because of the US Thanksgiving Day. Could be down again tomorrow because of Black Friday, and then the usual drop during the weekend. Let's see what next week brings.
Sorry to hear your traffic is down by more than 50%. I know how that feels as I lost 56% of my traffic in April when the big G's Penguin slapped my subdomain. My traffic has never recovered because the Penguin slap is permanent... no recovery. Sucks big time.
I have not heard of any Google updates the last couple of days, and I'm not aware of any HP maintenance changes either. I hope it is just the US Thanksgiving Day for you too.
I dont think Thanksgiving accounts for the dip because it started before. And right now there is no significant increase.
I have relied on few hubs for my traffic. And the least likely ones at that. Perhaps the competition has increased for those keywords.
I'll just have to wait it out and see.
my traffic has been down quite a bit since Wednesday, Nov. 21, but it's only because of the Thanksgiving holiday and travel period plus the black Friday and Saturday shopping. It's starting to pick up again today - Sunday the 25th.
It's not uncommon to see a sharp decline in traffic around the week leading up to and after the Thanksgiving/Black Friday period. My traffic for four days nose dived 60%. It's back to +15% above my normal month in month out views as of today.
Strangely--after more than two months of sharply reduced hub traffic (50% less and dropping), my "best" hub miraculously increased views today well past that half-way point (although not back to its best yet). Many of my other hubs are enjoying pretty good traffic today, also.
Since I griped when my traffic dropped and continued to complain as it languished in the doldrums, I feel compelled to share my good fortune with others who mention traffic in the forums today. I only hope it lasts and keeps improving (she says/writes with crossed fingers).

Last couple of days have seen a nice uptick for me. I was hit very hard in June, down by 2/3s, and it never picked back up until just this week., now up to about half my best ever. Only a couple new Hubs in that time, all losers...
Big change I made this week was to unpublish most of my sleeping Hubs. Saw the beginning of the upturn the next day. We shall see if it holds.
My traffic is at a standstill almost. It is that time of year, plus Black Friday and the beginning of holiday shopping. I am in the worst months for me anyway as far as traffic goes.
I am findng something interesting about all of the problems with HP lately. It is odd that, although not every one of them, the ones posting various issues that can affect their earnings are hubbers who have been here 2 years or more with over 100 hubs.
Maybe that's because those are the writers who track views, etc., and who analyze the traffic a bit. There are a ton of writers here who never visit the forums, and who surely have been affected. There are also writers who post a hub or two and never visit the site afterward.
FYI - I've been here less than a year and have published more than 100 hubs so far. I'm commenting here because after several months, I learned enough (a bit, anyway) to highly respect those who post here and who know way more than I do about SEO, Panda, etc.
Many new Hubbers probably don't have enough time here, or enough content, to norive trends just yet.
Is there some foul Google beast heading to some unholy dark anti-SEO temple room in pagan Babylon to be born? Hubviews down 42% in last 7 days.
I guess we shall wait out this Thanksgiving hiatus if this is but a little Thanksgiving pause.
Meanwhile back on the ranch ...Good news, I just received a small payout.
I'll take the sunshine with the rain
I got a little payout this week too! Hurrah!, at this rate will be three or four months till the next one. But views are up slightly recently...
In three month period, my organic traffic is fluctuating. I have only 5 published hubs and in average I get 50-60 page views a day. So, it's reasonably ok for this small number of hubs. Last month my traffic dropped by more than 30% and now its in the same position. May be due to some keywords being seasonal.

There have been several theories about what content Google is penalising and rewarding in the search results but at the moment it does seem a bit random (from my end). Let's compare notes and hopefully we can see some common threads in there. What content of yours is holding on to its ranking and...

Prompted by a comment in another thread, I thought it would be useful to perhaps slightly change the way that we commonly think about changes to hub scores, hubber scores and the like. Rather than see them as a judgement on us or our quality of writing, we can use these scores and other tools to...

I need reassuring.Up until a few months back I understand, maybe wrongly, HP pages got additional boost from Google. That implies (to me) that Google wanted content farms to churn out pages so that every possible search term was covered by pages that had associated Adsense advertising.Now...

When I did a Google search for one of my hubs, a different hubber's authorship is showing up attached to my hubs.I know this same thing is happening to another hubber as well... the same hubber's authorship (Marcy) is showing up in Google search for the authorship. Here's a pic of the...

If a hub is not featured does that mean that it doesn't get any search engine traffic from Google or other search engines?

Do you have any hubs where your Yahoo search traffic is more that all the Google searches combined (thats Google with different domains (TLDs))? I have a few, although not many.
