Our illustrious men and women of the House of Represenatives and the Senate just
adjourned for 5 weeks off.
Repubicans' job approval rating is 19%.
Democrats' is only marginally better at 31%.
They left a LOT of unfinished business on the table. Farm bill? Immigration reform?
And how about those jobs we've been hearing about since the 2010 mid-term election?
Congress can't be any less effective NOT in session than in.
Still -- what if we refused to pay them for this leave?
If we actually had a choice, I think there would be an almost unanimous consensus:
They should get a maximum of two weeks for vacation. Like normal people.
Haven't you folks heard? Five weeks is the new two weeks, just like being seventy is the new fifty.
Seventeen trillion in debt is the new five trillion?
The downward acceleration of our country has to reach maximum velocity at some point. . .I hope it's soon, otherwise bankruptcy will be the new budget.
What is a trillion dollars among friends?
Downward acceleration of our country is broader than just federal budget.
Widespread idiocy and vacuousness (and so proud of it!) are the citizenry equivalent of bankruptcy.
Alexis de Tocqueville said, "In democracy, we get the government we deserve."
We're really slipping fast with this bunch.
Great quote. I wish I had remembered it, there are many threads here where it would have been the most appropriate bipartisan response.
Forget Tocqueville, I'm going to steal the quote and give you author's credit.
GA
How could we disagree?
Education and opportunity. True upward mobility and a strong middle class.
Is that too much to ask for? We used to have it. That's the America I grew up in.
Would a business's board of directors get to take a vacation if they weren't able to balance the books or even come up with a budget? I guess some would get the vacation, perhaps if they were receiving stimulus money from the government. Still, no solvent business would be able to break for vacation without a working budget.
No, Congress deserves a one-way trip home but not a vacation.

I cannot wait to hear the responses on this one. A day after Obama was threatening how he will not pay the armed services, not pay Social Security, not fund Medicare, and more. "we do not have the money to pay these things We need to rasie taxes" I agree with him on eliminating tax breaks...

We all know it will be party-line loyalty for most voters. According to Pew Research, six percent of voters for the 2022 elections crossed party lines. For the mythical independent voter, it is a binary choice for the President. We are fortunate to be able to assess two Presidents based on criteria...

14 Trillion Dollars. That is a lot of debt.If we were a house hold with a $15,000.00 debt that the house must pay, or face bankruptcy, then the house and all it’s members must work to together to do it.It will take more than 20 years probably to pay it off, meaning multiple administrations and...
