It used to be "How Can I Keep from Singing" until I wrote an arrangement and had a "gifted" soprano overpower the entire choir. Since then I refer to the hymn as "How Can I Keep from Screaming."

Since then, I found a wonderful Appalachian sacred song called "See How the Savior Stands a Pleading." It's absolutely riveting and soul-stirring.

I also have an attachment to "All Creatures of Our God and King."

Definitely "Lord of the Dance" as it actually has a very catchy tune, plus it brings back memories of my infant school days smile

Halleluja - the Leonard Cohen words, the Rufus Wainwright singing style.

Somehow it captures the human experience better than any other song ...

    Jenny

They say there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya ...?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth,
The minor fall, the major lift,
    The baffled king composing Halleluja
    Halleluja, halleluja, halleluja, halleluja

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Halleluja ...

I did my best but it wasn't much
I couldn't feel so I learned to touch
I told the truth; I didn't mean to fool ya
And even though it all went wrong
I stand before the Lord Of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Halleluja ...

You say I took the name in vain
But I don't even know the name
And if I did, well really, what's it to ya?
There's a blaze of light in every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Halleluja ...

What Wondrous Love Is This - preferably sung in parts and acapella.

Wayfaring Stranger  -  sang bluegrass style.  Hey, I heard that dude who sang the background music for Cold Mountain sing this song and he absolutely had it right.

Man of Sorrows, What A Name  -  Acapella please.
