Squidoo migration

   A lot of writers from Squidoo have migrated to HubPages. It is a welcome thing and will increase the strength of HP in several ways like large membership, new friends, new ideas and knowing different writing styles, active forum discussion, large visibility in search engines, etc, etc.  I love to hear from the Squids ( am I right calling so?) how they feel the migration and what is their experience here in HP.  Are you all happy on this  community? How is your experience?  Please share all.

      Thanks for the welcome, I'm a former Squid. Must say that I'm beginning to feel at home here. Learning everyday. Still a lot of work to do until all my 'squbs' have become true hubs. Lot of things were done differently where we came from.

   This profile (goatfury) is 100% Hubpages, but I also started over at Squidoo a couple of months ago.  My other profile (revolutionbjj) is from Squidoo, and I have 89 hubs over there.  I work every day for at least an hour on updating and upgrading them.  It's a great deal of work, because the objectives were a lot different over at Squidoo, but I think that the end result is going to be some great content.  So far, so good!

   For me it's a new leg in my online writing interests. I enjoy the friendliness of the hubbers, their willingness to help and the interaction with the members of this new community.

   I am loving HubPages. Squidoo is a dear memory, but HubPages is my future. I'm still working on transforming lens-hubs every day. That will probably continue for weeks to come. It is fun... I love the Hub Tool and the messages that tell me what needs fixing.

   Why do I feel a bit like I'm in the middle of a Science Fiction movie? two entities meeting each other for the first time - the "natives" welcoming the new visitors to a planet that seems familiar, but one that's not totally similar to the new arrivals' old planet  - Maybe because I'm watching a very weird movie with Jake Gyllenlhall.  Very sweet forum, actually.

      I think that's a great analogy. But then, I'm a SciFi freak so it makes perfect sense to me.
      
      The inhabitants of the planet for the most part are accepting. They look a little different. They are missing the familiar tentacles and are more round like the hubs on a wheel. They assure us that our tentacles will drop off and we will get rounder. 
      
      There is a fringe group. Their wheels have worn a little thin and the spokes are poking through, abasive to our delicate tentacles. They are the ones who point and whisper thinking that the Squids will upset their planet.
      
      The Squids are stressed, trying to conform to the rules of the new planet. They are not only losing their home but their way of life. They want the Hubbers to like them and for the most part feel welcomed but the fringe group keeps whispering making them uneasy. Why don't they see how hard the Squids are working to make the Hub planet the best it can be? In recent days, the visitors to the planet have dropped off. Somehow the fringe thinks it's because of the Squids who have tried to assimulate. The Squids can't make visitors stop coming, it might be the fault of the Google God who controls all.
      
      Over all, the Squidhubbers keep assuring the Hubbers they will bring joy to the planet. They only ask a little time. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was HubPages.

   I'm a hubber - never been a 'squid'. But there are a couple of things I would like to say:
   
   1) It must be daunting to have to move sites and update pages along the way, perhaps losing many Squidoo friends who haven't made the transition. Given that more quality writers and more variety on HubPages can only be a good thing for everyone, I would urge all hubbers to make extra effort to support new members from Squidoo, including following their pages. Of course, don't follow just for the sake of it, but make extra effort during this transition period to check out their hubs, and if you do like what you see, then support with a follow. That way former Squidoo members will hopefully not experience any disillusionment.
   
   2) As sunilkunnoth2012 indicates, things are done differently. I like most of the things HubPages does, but no doubt there may be some things which can be learned from Squidoo. Squidoo members must be active in the forums both pointing out all the best features of HubPages as they see them, but also any elements which they feel from their experience could be improved.

      I'm loving HubPages too. There's so much to learn and, I hate to admit, I have a bit of trouble when it comes to understanding some of the Hubber-speak. I've learned a lot by reading the forums and have had a question answered quickly, with respect and patience. Editing my hubs has been a lot easier than I thought it'd be. I like the helpful hints given in "edit."
