I have never met Marisa Wright and probably never will because she lives in Australia, and I live in the US.  Nonetheless, I feel as If I know her well because she has been unbelievably kind and helpful to me during my journey into online writing.  Marisa helped me to set up a blog last year and has been in constant touch with me via personal email in order to help me with numerous problems.  She has lifted me up when I have been down and advised me well about so many things that it is hard to count them.  I wish she lived close by so that we could become real life friends, but alas, I will have to settle for an internet friendship.  I just wanted everybody to know what a wonderful person she is and that I will be ever grateful for what she has done for me.  Marisa, ... thank you, thank you, thank you.

So nice to see this, TT.  I also have come to respect and admire Marisa throughout my years here.  She sincerely wants to help people and has given a lot of great advice by way of the forums.
Forums can be a strange environment at times, with all the different countries and cultures represented, but we're all in this together and Marisa is always willing to extend a helping hand.
It's nice to know that she stays in touch with you.

This is spot on, when I first started here three months ago, she was the only one that bothered to answer my newbie questions! At this moment, somewhere in Australia, she is inexplicably blushing!  smile

Marisa is so knowledgeable and always so helpful to everyone on the forums. I shouldn't be surprised that she has been helping you out outside of HubPages, but wow! That's so nice!

    She is a keeper.

Thank you so much, TT2 and others!   Yes I do live in Australia.  Although I was brought up in Scotland, over the last 30 years the Aussie culture has well and truly rubbed off on me, including their tendency to (as brakel says) "tell it like it is".  Australians don't believe in sugar-coating anything and I know I've ruffled feathers here by being too blunt or too frank, so it's nice to know that some people do appreciate what I'm trying to do.

    Thanks again!

Sugar-coating, yes, that's it. lol. We lack the sugar-coating. smile

Add that to the list of useful things I've learned from you!

Nice thread.   smile    (and yes, Marisa has the experience/expertise to offer solid help/information on here AND she has been on here trying to help when a lot of other people either abandoned HP and/or the forums completely - or else just don't bother trying to be helpful to others.on here.)

(As I was about to post here I now see that Marisa has just posted.  Marisa, you shouldn't have to sugar-coat straight information/input; but I'm not sure it's necessarily about Australia or Scotland with regard to some people's expectation of sugar-coating.  If there's one thing that's caused me major, major, problems over the course of my adult life (and outside the very structured environment of, say, a narrow corporate setting where people are generally "straight talk/no sugar-coating"; it's that "telling it like it is" without sugar coating is often misinterpreted by those who hear/read "like it is" (or simply straight and professional information)  when "it" is coming from a woman.  Not to turn this nice thread into a "woman's issues" thing; but even in US culture where laws have changed and people think all is great for women, human nature (and a lot of people) still have some pretty ingrained thinking that can amount to "assigning" some very misguided things to straight, solid, non-sugar-coated, talk (especially when it comes from a woman).   Anyway, I think far more people on here respect your efforts in offering solid insight and experience than you, or else some other people on here, may realize.

Oh... and while "some of us" (me, in particular) are addressing the matter of motives being misconstrued; I'd like to re-emphasize - and I REALLY do mean this - that on a fairly recent thread where you were and where I went on a big vent, I REALLY meant it when I said it was not directed at your remarks about online writing in general but that I needed to vent "to the world in general" because of so many people in my offline life asking those same questions.  I sure hope nobody who saw that thought I was really directing it at you, because I "plain, old" was not.   hmm    Personally, I suspect you probably know that.  I just don't know if anyone else may have misinterpreted it, and that's what I'd never want.  The real reason I wrote, and didn't delete, that vent/rant was that I thought there might be the chance that someone from outside of Hubpages might find it in my HP activity list.    hmm ) .  Then again, for all I know, nobody misinterpreted the rant/vent, but I like to err on the side of "clarification".    hmm

(Just one more thing:  I've written a couple/few "tell it like it is" type Hubs that I've since deleted; and, boy, I was accused of all kinds of horrible, or at least unflattering, things.    lol  )
