This hub was previously featured (all my other Hubs are Featured) but with some recent rule changes, it is no longer featured.  I edited the hub three times and still nothing has changed.  I reviewed all the guidelines and removed links to I don't refer to the same domain more than twice.  It is quality content and definitely not spammy, so what I am missing that is causing it to NOT be featured?  It has a Score of 88 - so shouldn't it be Featured?  Any advice is super appreciated!  Thanks...

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my Hub 5 More Vacation Policy Questions to Ask Now When Changing Jobs. What can I do to improve?

    -Scott, VacationCounts

Scott, I just rapidly read your Hub, and am at a loss. You do not have more than 2 links to the same site, and the Hub is not stuffed with products.

Perhaps one of the seasoned writers here will have an idea. I admittedly went through it fast, as I have to be somewhere else for an hour or so, but could not determine what is causing it not to be featured.

Thanks for taking a quick look.  I forgot to mention that there are zero products, ads, or affiliate links in this article.  There never were.  Previously I had three links to my VacationCounts website which I pared back.  Otherwise it is just a useful article that is not promotional or spammy.  I wish there was a connection between quality score and "Featured" as I am also at a loss.

Scott, I think the issue may be the professional editors. The Hub tends to come across that you are advising people to try to find ways NOT to work in their new jobs. This would be a definite turn off to the ultra conservative types that tens to run all US (Western world!) businesses these days.

That alone may be making them feel that the Hub is not worthy of being featured, this despite that fact that the vast majority of readers might appreciate a few tips on how to thwart the excessive demands of the modern bosses.

I do not see any other reasons why they may have acted this way other than that.

Thanks for offering your advice - it is an interesting theory but I hope it is not true.  Most of my hubs are work-life balance related and how to take more vacation time.  One of those hubs is an "Editors Choice" too. smile

Do you recommend I contact Support directly and ask for their review?

Yes - contact the support desk and ask why this isn't featured yet.  I just read the hub (and voted it up & shared it with my followers).

This is a very good hub, it's well-written, is organized well, has good advice and the links are appropriate (from what I can tell).  It is sad to see good work such as this not get featured, but other content with clear violations and poor writing somehow passes QAP.

Perhaps, best-scenario, it hasn't had time to be reviewed yet?  Did you actually get a message saying it was disapproved?

    Puzzled here . . .

I'm wondering if maybe that is the case -- that the article just hasn't been reviewed again since your last round of changes. I suspect it was the three links to your website that tripped the unfeaturing mechanism. Hopefully your article is not yet featured simply because it is still in line, waiting to be reviewed again.

My only contribution is that as an employment professional, I have seen the recommendations in your well-written Hub for twenty years in various professional journals and in bits and pieces online. HubPages may see it as redundant material, but I see it as good to have all in one place. Let us know what HP responds to your inquiry. Best of luck with it.

I would suggest simplifying the title for the hub, which is confusing and is poor expression. Something like: 'Five Key Questions to Ask About Vacation Policy, Flexible Hours'
Also use 'Five' instead of '5'.
Also many of your references / links are very general and not specifically related to the topic. They may be regarded as irrelevant and inappropriate, and perhaps overly promotional by attempting to built authority by seeding the hub with links.

Hi, VacationCounts!  You have an interesting hub that I think many would find useful.  My feedback contribution:  I probably shouldn’t be putting my two cents worth in here, but could it be with the title of your hub?  When I read the title it doesn’t sound like something I would write when searching.  Read your title without the “More” and without the “Now.”   5 Vacation Policy Questions to Ask When Changing Jobs.   Does that change the meaning of your message? If I haven’t read your earlier vacation policy hubs, the words, more and now, really aren’t necessary.   And if I’m reading this hub because of an earlier one, a link to this one from the first would be easier for me, the reader.   Sorry, if this wasn’t worth two cents, but I’m trying.

Yes that is an excellent point about the title and the "More".  Thanks for your time and advice. I should have linked to the previous post.  I was relying on HubPages putting in the link automatically to my other popular posts and also trying to limit the number of links to the "same domain" since that seems to be a new Featured rule.  I'm not sure if I can link to more than 2 on Hubpages.com or not.

The only thing I found confusing was the "more" in the title.  If there are previous tips on the same topic you should link to them at the top of the article.

VacationCounts - these are great suggestions, but I wouldn't think any of those things would keep you from getting published.

Let us know what you find out?

Yes thanks sharing your feedback.  I received a response back from HubPages support and they said three things:

      1. It is brief
(doesn't seem that brief to me)
      2. Generic media assets that are not cited
(they are all royalty-free graphics I purchased from Dreamstime)
      3. Format of hub doesn't match title - i.e "questions to ask"
(fair point which many of you here also mentioned - I will revise to address #3 for sure.  The other points shouldn't be an issue but we'll see. smile
