    Running this Google Tool

    https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

highlights consistent page rendering delay problems that could be fixed. Could HP please fix these problems.

Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Your page has 3 blocking script resources and 1 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.
    Remove render-blocking JavaScript:
    http://  ajax.googleapis.  com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js

Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:

I ran this once and wondered about the results. I sent them to staff but never heard anything. What does it mean, and is it important?

I sent the same results and got a reply from Matthew a while back.  I got a thank you but don't know if it made any difference.

Good tool, didn't know about it. It let me know my own sites are not doing so well in terms of speed. Not sure I'm capable of fixing, lots of solutions involving code and all that.

Actually got a decent score for user experience on my sites but lots of suggestions on increasing speed.

Slow loading time was brought up 20 months ago via the same alarming source as mentioned here. There is very little we can do individually. The problem is too many ads. You can see a not very helpful reply from Mathew in this post:

I have moved all my photos down, allowing a brief introduction at the beginning of hub per Camden815's suggestion and ensured they are large. That does not help ads above fold but may assist to some extent.

I ran it, and it says my above the fold content is properly prioritized. This is thanks to another hubber's suggestions - Chris Mills.

I often try to get on this site and do something else while I wait for it to load. The issue doesn't happen on other sites, so this site does have a problem. I'm sure it is hurting all of us.

I know I've waited upwards of twenty minutes for the page to finish loading after I've changed some text in my hubs. I don't have this problem on any other site, only HubPages.

Edit: this comment took eight minutes to post from the time I pressed "Save" to when it posted.

Edits have been taking a long time to load lately.

Could anyone who has photos at beginning of hub run the test and report back on the results of that test?. It would be nice to know if it affects the page loading with photos above the fold. Thanks.

I checked it out with a large photo above fold, and it apparently did not affect page loading. Does anyone else remember an issue?

I keep answering my own question. It is an SEO issue about content above the fold.
