I removed all but one Amazon ad from around twenty of my hubs this afternoon.   In less than 4 hours, my hub score has grown two points,  Anyone else noticed a difference.   Maybe this really is the answer!

I got rid of a bunch of amazon ads and replaced some with ones that were more relevant. Traffic went up, but it might be coincidence; because the weekends over and then the  process of moving to the main domain.

Well, though we know that Hubscore is random and unimportant, (could just be the regular fluctuation).
I'm going to take a look at my Amazon again. I often have one, or at the most two, Amazon capsules on a hub. I know for sure that about 75% of my income comes from Amazon-- mostly from one hub-- possibly two, so I am extremely reluctant to dump those. They have  been doing really well for me lately.

I would not touch the Amazon capsules, but you might want to turn of the HP ads.  There is another thread on the forum discussing this suggestion: Switching Off Commercial Ads

A few hours ago I turned off about 15 HP ads that were appearing on articles where I have at least one Amazon capsule.  I have seen no difference yet.  I'm leaving the others alone because very few of my articles have Amazon ads, anyhow.

On one hub I noticed that there were THREE of the same HP ad.  Very weird.  I only noticed it once, but as far as I'm concerned, once is one time too many.  We should never see a spam situation like that from any HP ad grouping.

I did not switch remove amazon ads from hubs which convert into sales.  I think I will take a different approach with those.  The odd thing is I noticed that at times I had three amazon ads with the same products, guess they were replaced with these because I had used the keyword tool originally to insert them.  That really did look spammy.

Sally - I think you are going to be confused if you continue to think of the Amazon modules as adverts. THEY ARE NOT ADVERTS.

The simple way to remember it is adverts are things created and placed by other people.

Content - including use of amazon modules - is something you create.  If your amazon products are not totally relevant to a hub then they can be spammy. Never include anything which is not 100% relevant.

Yes seeing the same since last night when I did it, sallybea. Reported this on the other forum. There must be something to it but not sure yet what. I'm willing to play and see.

But you know a better score does NOT mean better traffic. Or better earnings potential.

Yes I do know that there really is no relevance:)  It is just nice to see a change sometimes.  Mind you, profile score went down and we know that means nothing.

So am I but not with the ones which are producing an income.  I might keep just keep the Amazon ads for a few days and see how it goes.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I don't think the the score everyone sees makes any difference does it? I was just about to ask about the scores we get from our individual hubs, how important are those to bring up?

    1. Marisa Wright profile image86
Marisa Wrightposted 8 years agoin reply to this

      Not even slightly important!

That's what I thought. I've never stressed too much about the scores, but it seems everyone else does, so I was just curious. Thanks!

I don't stress too much about it now, not like I used to when I first started here.  That is the sad thing about scores, it is usually the ones who have low scores who do all the stressing.  I think they are discouraging rather than encouraging which is a shame.

But, I think a good score of 80 on your hub indicates the quality of the hub. I am talking about the hub not hubber. I can feel much pleasure when I see above 80 score against most of my hubs in my account. But presently, there is only one with above 80. Most of them are between 70 to 79 and others below than that.
I hope Marissa will also like to see them with high scores, even it is not relevant as per her remark.

    Hub Scores are irrelevant

You can't actually tell what changeson individual hubs actually make a difference in the middle of the very major change from sub-domains to the main domain. That needs to settle down first as we know that hubs will initially lose traffic then regain it - and hopefully get a little more (i.e. the reason they are making the change)

So other changes need to be isolated from this major change before any assessment can be made.

In 2-3 weeks time we might be able to run proper tests however the only ones that matter are those that are set up to provide a control against which to measure change.

I agree, tinkering with Hubs right now is not a good idea as you can't possibly tell what is causing changes.

I think that just the action of editing those hubs would increase your hubscore. I have noticed this effect when I have edited the ones with 'editbot' corrections!

I think you are right Alison.  It rose another point today and this has not happened in ages.
