   My fellow Hubbers, it seems that people in the world have gone so far as to keep their chldren from watching Spongebob Squarepants.
   They've done this because:
   
   Patrick wears no shirt.
   Squidward wears no pants.
   Its moral lessons are nearly invisible or non-existent.
   
   So, fellow Hubbers, I ask you to share your opinion on this matter and even add more things to the list if you like.

   There are a lot more dirty things in Spongebob. I wouldn't prevent my kid from watching it because it goes over their heads. Its for entertainment, not morals, that's what parents are for. My favorite movies were Drop Dead Fred and Mrs. Doubtfire as a kid and they're rated PG-13. I think Spongebob was created by a marine biologist on acid.
   
   Donald Duck didn't wear pants. So what?

   I think overly paranoid people can watch ANYTHING and find something "wrong" with it. Spongebob clearly has nothing wrong in it. And I agree...Donald Duck never wore pants. Neither did Baloo...lol. And what about all the violence in old Looney Toon cartoons? It's all relative I suppose...

   pants are irrelevant in the cartoon world. none of us would wear pants if we were animated.

   Sheesh. Only sick, twisted closet sponge-fetishists would deny a kid some spongebob.
   
   But, I live in Utah and things like this are not at all uncommon here. They hate something new every week!

    I don't anything about Sponge Bob, other than what he looks like.  Pants or not, I'm not a big fan.  I'd like him and Dora (whom, for some reason, I occasionally watch even without having little kids) replaced by Care Bares and Huckleberry Hound.

       My friends boyfriend she is 32 and he id 56, love squarebob soooo much that they make cakes of him for each other on birthdays, The most pathetic thing I have ever seen, was a Squarebob Muffin, which she made and iced, we just got normal ones.

       I'd wtach Huckleberry Hound and Tennesee Tuxedo before watching Spongebob, surely.
       
       "Tennesse Tuxedo and his Tales" (tails, i.e.coat tails)..... Always liked that phrase in the song

    mandybeau, I once actually put 50 cents into one of those "gumball machines" in order to get (for myself) a mini-SpongeBob (just because I thought he was cute).  Once I got "him" I decided he wasn't all that cute, so now the thing is in some drawer somewhere.  I guess I thought he'd make a cute desk ornament or something - but he was just dumb.      You haven't seen "pathetic" until you've seen my local bakery's version of a Barrack Obama cookie.

    Cartoons are meant for kids to enjoy and adults to analyze...They just have a few laughs and forget about it and we agonize over what they are watching.

       I know imagine a 32 year old and a fifty five year old sitting on a couch and refusing to let anyone talk while its on... Harder for them to forget what they have seen. As for analysing it as I sat in silence I just wondered where they were at.

    I allow my children to watch it. In fact they probable watch many shows that a lot of parents would not allow. But, they were also taught the TV is TV this is not real so we don’t repeat thing we see it is just for fun. My thought is that T V was made for entertainment not for education I am there to teach them right from wrong not a television show
