Linking to my own related hubs

   Is it still OK to link to our own hubs? I have several hubs on baby names, and when I wrote them several years ago, I linked them all to each other within the body of the hubs.
   
   I haven't been good about updating my hubs or keeping up with what is allowed, but I am trying to change that. When updating these baby name hubs, should I keep them linked to each other, or remove the links? I am not linking to any pages outside of HP or HP niche sites.

      I don't link to other hubs these days, after a few dips in traffic when I did. But that might be superstition.
      
      Don't let me put you off. I would wait and see what other people have to say.

      I still have several hubs interlinking between what are my most popular.  The link capsules were not removed by editors. They end up being different links from those suggested as further reading or more by this author. I can't say if they help or hurt, but the 5 still have the highest views of any of my hubs.

      My suggestion is to link them if they are related. It can only help and not hurt.
      There are two ways to do this. You can add a link to the text module in place, or you can add a "link" module at the end with a list of related topics. HP seems to discourage any links via the link module but will not check the inline links as much. Good luck.

   Nothing wrong with linking to you own Hubs, as long as the links are relevant and useful to the reader. It is a great way to keep readers on the site and exploring other content. When readers arrive on a niche site we want them to stick around.
   
   To that end, I usually make sure I link only to Hubs on the same site. PetHelpful to PetHelpful, for example. Not PetHelpful to DenGarden or even PetHelpful to HubPages.
   
   As Hubs have moved to niche sites I'm imagining there is a ton of cross-linking between Hubs by one user on many sites. And, there are a ton of links back to HP from Hubs that went to niche site. Now that we're a year in, if Hubbers could start cleaning that stuff up I think it would be good.
   
   Also, be careful using the link capsule itself. It can be useful, or it can look spammy. Remember it snags your summary along with the link, so at the very least you'll want to change that a bit.

   I think you treat it the same as every other link - ask yourself, will it be useful to the reader?  If not, don't use it. If yes, do.

   I have linked my teetotal hub (which could come across as a bit condescending) to my hub about dealing with alcoholism. That hub will hopefully enable the reader to understand my reasons for my feelings. Anyway I hope they compliment each other.
   
   It hadn't entered my mind that it might be frowned upon so thank you for confirming. As for whether it will effect traffic, I'm only on my 10th hub so traffic is low anyway.
   
   One thing that is certain here is that there's never anything certain! I'm enjoying it anyway.

      I reckon you need to be careful about linking to your own stuff. But then many big sites do it all the time, often in very intrusive ways -- huge gaps in the text of an article and a super-bright link to something vaguely related elsewhere in the site.
      
      Anyway... I am sticking to my superstitions, given the low clickthrough rates.

         I think interlinking on your own blog is a good idea, to help people navigate. I'm much more cautious on HubPages because HP provides so many links to other Hubs already (related Hubs etc).  I have no evidence that overloading with links is a bad thing but I'm not willing to chance it.
