How to tell your boss that you're giving your 2 weeks notice?

You like your boss and like your current job. Another opportunity just arose.

    I have already left 3 companies .

The first company, I like my job and my boss.  I just met my manager and gave the resignation letter stating that I want to do business.  He smiled and tried to change my mind.

However my head of department was bit disappointed with me when I talked with him.

However later on he accepted and there was no hard feeling. Plus , he took me and my colleagues for a farewell dinner.

Tell him politely about your decision and later on give the resignation letter.

Make sure that its the right thing for your and your family first and foremost.

Pick a time early in the morning, don't let it drag out. Ask for a moment alone to speak to your boss.

It is always best to have a letter of resignation typed ahead of time. Walk into his office and hand him the notice. Let him read it and answer any questions, telling him you've enjoyed working there and want to leave on good terms.

I have a simple rule for bad news or situations that might offend someone.  Always have 4 good things to say about a person before you tell him the one bad thing or one bad news.

you say something like: you're a great boss (if he isn't, try to find some good qualities, everyone has good qualities), i really enjoy working here...

also, give a reason for leaving that doesn't have to do with your current job.  for example, my family needs more income or this job is a better fit and will help me in my overall career goals, etc.

First have someone in mind to help him fill your spot.  And hand a copy of your resignation to him and a copy of your resignation to human resources and be out of there before the expected deadline.  And say have a nice day to him,.

Well be honest with "your boss" you have done what you rightfully should have.  Then they will be prepared to do what it is that they must to fill the position.  Now IF you had said you dint like them..............I would have a totally differenct response.........ciao
