You forgot the president before Obama? George W. Bush who started 2 wars, left the economy is shambles. All Obama is really trying to do is pick up the pieces and clean the turt to make it look pretty. Unfortunately people will not be pleased with everything he does and that is fine. But don't blame him for the state we are in today, he simply inherited it.

    Carter or Nixon.

And Obama isn't repairing anything. With these policies (Universal Health Care and Cap and Trade) he's only going to put salt into an open wound.

According to many polls, President Obama has the lowest approval rating of any president at this point in their term.  You might recall that George H.W. Bush had the highest approval rating of any president ever during Desert Storm.

So yeah, you could legitimately say Obama is more unpopular than any president before if you only consider those perimeters. I think it probably has something to do with the fact that Obama has, by far, the most liberal/socialist political ideology of any president ever.  America still has a strong patriotic spirit and is not going to surrender to socialist-fascism easily.

People have become extreme ideologues, and it affected George Bush I think worse than any other president before in our history. Obama may be suffering the beginnings of the same fate. Extreme ideology has clouded people's ability to cut through the haze and the rhetoric. It's caused them to believe everything in their ideological framework is correct, and anyone who opposes it is corrupt.

I consider myself to be a moderate conservative republican. I did not vote for, nor do I support the majority of the policies of President Obama. But NOT because he is a liberal. NOT because he is a democrat. But simply because his policies, which I agree with or disagree with on their merits, are not something that I can currently support.

That said, there have been many times I have sided with Obama on an issue or sided against the GOP on an issue. I don't think anything in this world is absolutely cut and dry, and so to hate is to cancel out the possibility of giving something genuinely good the time of day.

Consider one more analogy; isn't this a present day flat-earther vs. round sort of thing?

People can not see what is going on behind the scenes.

The Agenda of the "Invisible Government" controls the Selected Government.

Go ahead and Blame Bush, Blame Obama.  But the reality is both are just doing what they are told to do.

If you want to fix the problem you have to remove the Invisible Government from power.

And that means eliminating the Bankers Control of the Worlds Money Supplies.

I'd say the people were pretty angry at Bush and that's how Obama got elected along with a majority in both houses of congress.  I'd say that the people were angry at Clinton when they gave control of the US House of Representatives to Republicans after 40 some odd years of control by the democrats. I'd say the people were pretty angry at Carter when they elected and actor for president.  I'd say they were pretty angry at Nixon when the elected a little know peanut farmer from Georgia.  I'd say there it is just politics as usual but we forget that there is an ever increasing amount of media competing for a soundbite.  I don't think we are more angry, it is just that it is amplified like never before.

Are you comparing Bush and Obama?  Your question is not clear.
But the reason people were angry at Bush and are getting angry with Obama is because THEIR BOSSES are the same people, even though the people don't realize it.  They just don't know why the country is deteriorating regardless of which party has power. The spokesholes and figureheads change, but the agenda remains the same.

They are all out for themselves. Obama in my view is the worse, lowest form of a Pres I have ever seen.   When everyone loses everything they have they will see what is really going on, but by then it will be too late for everyone.

I am not Democrat or Republican, but when I see people leaving out the very things which made us American, I begin to shutter.  It is not about the party, it is about America.  It seems that the parties are blind and are becoming more and more like children, with one trying to outdo the other. Will we stay the same and have our freedom?  Will we keep giving in until we no longer look like the "blessed" Nation?  Our freedom is what makes us so hated and I can't help but think when our Nation is fast becoming something other than a Nation who believes in doing what is right; that something is wrong...if certain things are wrong for one party they are also wrong for the other one.

I think many America citizens were this angry with Bush as well. Its the same story of so much expectation from one individual. We must remember how lengthy a process of passing a bill can be (through congress) so there can only be so much change implemented in such a short period of time.

This is not to say people cant have opinions and be angry. I think its perfectly fine, and as the leaders of this nation, they probably anticipate it.

    Dear Jobister
Obama complaining to what he inherited as to the economy is a combination of truth, fiction and democratic talking points.Let's not forget that George Bush inherited bill clintons recession in 2000 and shorthly there after september 11 th.
When the republicans were in control of the white house and congress up to the 2007 election ,a barrel of oil was $45.00 and unemployment was 4.5 %. It took the democrats just 2 years ( 2007 and 2008  ) with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd  in charge to collapse the housing market. The past is the past ,Obama and congress is responsible by their actions in not producing the jobs that was promised if elected. The people need to wake up before we go into another worst recession.

Bush raped the country so bad.  Bushism set up the dominoes for the economic failure for 8 years then he got routed out just when they were falling everywhere.  Now people are ticked at Barry cuz he hasn't been able to fix in one year what was 8 years a breakin.

As many people have stated, this country has been divided into two angry, completely different groups now.  It started with the 2000 Presidential Election.  It has gotten progressively worse over the years.  I thought no president was attacked as much as George W. Bush.  Even though I couldn't stand him, I thought it was over the top.  We are now seeing the same thing with President Obama.  And it is only going to get worse for him as long as the keeps his agenda on the far left.  Just my opinion.

We've been angry at other presidents too. George W. Bush didn't exactly have a pleasant departure. I think people are taking it more personally because of the race issue. Everything I see written on Obama on hubpages (and other places too) always has at least one comment about how somebody has a problem with his race. Many people, including myself, are pissed that we can't talk negatively about Obama without getting accused of being racist. Somebody else mentioned we are "Split" as a nation by two parties (demo and repub), but I believe we are split by race more than ever before too. It's not just politics.

Here's my question to you. When have the American people brought up a presiden's race as they do with Obama? It's not like I was saying to anti-Bush people "you're racist" yet I've gotten those comments when talking about Obama. It's a shame he can't be seen for his politics and more than just face value.

I think that's a good question.  But part of the problem is that people want to blame or credit the President with too much.  When you think about it, when the economy really does depend upon who sits in the White House, we're all in trouble no matter who sits there, because the whole point of our Constitution was to PROHIBIT the government (in all branches) from gaining too much power over our liberties.

The reality is that the President is perceived to have more power than he has, and more attention needs to be paid to Congress, which is the primary culprit in most of what goes wrong with government.  Other big culprits include the runaway bureaucracies within the Executive Branch, but which the President has little true influence over, since the bureaucrats last much longer than any administration.

In particular, we are facing the problem of government controlling not only more than it ought to, but more than it is capable of, and our current economic crisis, as well as its disastrous aftermath of bailouts and debt, are a direct result of gov't simply being incompetent.  I disagree strongly with the Obama administration, but I am less worried about him (he'll be gone in a few years, no matter what) than about what Congress has unleashed upon us in the way of new agencies and new legislation.

Not to long ago, think Bush.  There was more hatred for Bush than there is for Obama, it's just that Obama is a much more polarizing president.

I think that we give presidents too much credit or blame. In our system, they have limited control over legislation that is passed. In my mind, the most dysfunctional part of government is the Congress, and I'm not singling out any party here. They are beholden to special interest groups and are heavily influenced by lobbyists. And a lot of these guys are around forever, so they are more concerned with their political clout and survival than they are with the fortunes of any term-limited President. They also tack on to bills all sorts of pork-barrel spending and subsidies for their favorite special interests that have nothing to do with the original bill. Too much use of the filibuster (on both sides) has also made it difficult to get much of anything done. In short, our problems are systemic, and they will continue long after Obama is gone.

In politics, getting people angry is effective. This is why the opposition uses such savage tactics to try and regain power. And when times are bad like they are now - due to the stupid behavior of the bankers who are largely raking it in at the moment - it's easy to get people angry, and the President is the easiest target.
