Why did Jesus have to be born from a virgin?  Why couldn't he have a real earthly father.  If it...

was because he had to be born sinless then what does that make most of us?

It makes us sinful at conception that's what it does - according to Catholic dogma - Adam & Eve and all their spawn inherited sin - even a little baby is considered 'sinful'.

Immaculate Conception is so that Mary’s womb wouldn't be carrying original sin because a God can't be born from a venial vessel. In 1854, Pope Pius IX declared Mary's Immaculate Conception so that she was sinless.

Worship of virgin mothers and their divine children such as the Akadian “Creation Epic  Marduk predate the birth of Jesus.

Jesus was born of a Virgin especially Mary, because she was as close as possible, given her lifestyle, living a sinless Godly life. Jesus had to be born free of any of the sins of mankind.
Jesus did have both a heavenly and earthly father. Joseph once he married Mary, was Jesus earthly father.

Mary was not sinless, she had sinned, but she was above reproach and that is why God picked her to be the earthly mother of His Heavenly Son....Jesus could not be born of an earthly father because He had to be perfect, He had to be pure to die on the cross for us and being born of an earthly fther would not qualify Him for that role.  Jesus was, is and forever shall be The Son of God, Joseph was NEVER his father.......

The miraculous birth is definite proof that Jesus is the Messiah. The Messiah was to be born of a virgin. How many people could say their mother was a virgin? I only know of one. By this fact alone, we can have confidence that Jesus is the Messiah. However, God gave us many more prophesies about the Messiah in the Old Testament, which were also fulfilled in Jesus. If you read through the book of Matthew, you will see that the writer refers constantly to the Old Testament in order to show the fulfillment of prophecy about the Messiah in Jesus Christ.

The official reason for the "Immaculate Conception," which became dogma in the 19th century, is that the son of God couldn't have a mother "born in sin," the sin being Adam and Eve eating an apple at the recommendation of a talking serpent. The real reason is that the Catholic Church believes all sex outside of marriage and for non-reproductive purposes like pleasure is dirty. Hence the emphasis on Mary's virginity because a non-virgin bearing the son of God would be inappropriate. According to the Bible, we are all guilty because Adam and Eve noshed on forbidden fruit???? Jesus for inexplicable reasons had to die on the cross to atone for the original sin committed by the first two inhabitants of the Garden of Evil. That makes God the Father seem kind of sadistic toward his own and only son, no?

The reason this is so important is because sin is passed down through the father. Because there was no "father", sin was never passed down to Jesus. That's why He had to be born of a virgin.

So that the conception was not natural/of man but supernatural/of God, otherwise it's impossible and would be just another human being. The seed/sperm/genetics of man (Greek word is "sperma" for the English "seed" and "sperm") was corrupted and made sinful when man sinned and fell in Genesis 3. Therefore Jesus needed to be born of God and not man to be righteous. But He had to become a man for multiple reasons, to show us how to live, to have perfect sinless human blood to remit our sins (Hebrews), to fulfill the law of Moses, to fulfill all righteousness, to fulfill the messianic prophecies, and to give us an example to follow, for "He emptied Himself and took on human form," Philippians 2, "The Son can do nothing of Himself, but only what He sees His Father doing," John 5, so Jesus God the Son did not live as God, He lived as a man rightly related to the Father God and fully dependent on and full of Holy Spirit God, but because He had no sin He lived in the fullness of God, and so He has given us an example that we can follow and grow into because now in Christ we are humans rightly related to the Father and full dependent on Holy Spirit and our human spirit is righteous but our soul and body is catching up and being renewed to that position in the spirit, so we can grow into Jesus example and walk as He walked (1John). Grace and Peace

Jesus had to be born of a virgin to prove his birth was from something beyond humanity. He was conceived by God thus being fully God, and born a human birth. This way he would suffer the human life, felling pain, love, hardship and even death. He also was able to use his divinity to help people see the power and grace of God. His healing miracles, his teachings and especially his death showed the world (or at that time a few people) that he was more than just a human. He was without sin because of how he lived his life, not the state of how he was conceived. Jesus needs to be fully human and fully divine in order to create the bridge that brings us closer to God throughout our lives. He understands our suffering, and can bring the power and mercy of God into our lives. An earthly father would make him only human, not divine.
    Sorry for the long(ish) answer.
