   Usually from my personal angst, or when I encounter something extremely stupid. There is no "how": I don't look for it, it just happens.

   My inspiration comes from many places. Emotions that surface, both good and bad, push me to write.
   
   A picture can stir my imagination. As I look at the picture, I ask myself questions that develop into stories, and many times my own memories play a part in those stories.
   
   A sensation, a smell, the way the light shines through a window and makes shadows on the floor.
   
   I have vivid memories of my life, and sometimes they become a story that will not be silenced until it is written down. Perhaps so I won't forget it, or there may be a greater reason that I'll never know.
   
   Writing is like breathing for me and the more I write, the more alive I feel.

   I find inspiration from whatever is around me and the way I happen to be feeling at that particular moment.
   
   There is no hard and fast answer as to "why" or "how" The Muse finds me...it is all about keeping an open mind and listening to your own instincts. 
   
   I find that if I read something, or see something on TV, and the subject matter is important to me, it gives me a strong basis for my next piece of writing.  For example, I am a member of my local online newspaper, and if I see an article which interests me, I will quite often add my opinions into the "comments" pages.  Sometimes, my opinions are welcome, other times it is clear that my opinions differ entirely with those of other people. Whether your ideas and thoughts are in line with those of other people is nowhere near as important as remaining clear and concise and to the point.
   
   Inspiration is a very personal thing.  What inspires you as a person may not inspire your partner, your family or someone sitting next to you at work, school or college.  The brain is the single most powerful organ of the body, and works differently for every individual.  Just because your friend feels inspired by Justin Beiber, for example, you would not be abnormal if you did not feel the same way. 
   
   Inspiration is simply an unknown quantity inside of ourselves, in the same way as love. We cannot chase it, we cannot look for it. Inspiration strikes us down, usually when we least expect it.

   Usually from reading something that triggers a thought or watching the news. Lately if you visit my hub, you'll find I've taken up a cause for some very unfortunate people in a community that a politician has taken control of and those he put in charge squandered over $1,000,000 from their volunteer fire departments. So, for now I'm on a crusade to help this community stay informed.

   Hi,
   
   I usually don't try and think of a subject or inspiration - if I try too hard I don't usually get any ideas. I tend to just watch TV, do some reading - on Hub Pages too of course -, listen to people and observe what's going on around me, and then inspiration and ideas tend to come quite quickly. So for me there isn't one thing I do to get ideas.

   Everywhere- the world is full of such amazing wonders- sky, stars, nature, people, flora and fauna, emotions, relationships, birth & death, love and hate, yin and yang.
   
   I dream, I reflect, I reside sometimes in the corridors of my mind and go for long walks in the cavernous paths of my memories.
   
   I read, watch, listen, smell, taste, touch and feel inspiration from all around.
   
   I also wrote a hub about ideas and inspirations..

   I find inspiration for writing from the simplest things in my life...daily life...inspiration comes to me when i am not judging my life...not trying to be somewhere or someone else...also writing in my writing book helps to get things moving!

   I find inspiration to those people around me. When people lend some time to read any of my works, it is really motivating for me. Such motivation, keeps me writing more, since I know someone is willing to read my works.

    I'm not sure if this falls under "inspiration", but i write better and hit less road blocks whenever i write (type) on my laptop at a location other than my home. Barnes and Noble is a great place to sit and write, because there's always a cafe where i can get a Latte and there's definitely plenty of resource material around. As for where and how I'm "inspired"....that's completely different. I find inspiration within my own thoughts. I simply empty my mind and think of random things. Also, when i listen to music, i try to think of "scenes" that go with the music...if that makes any sense?

    Hobbies are the best way to go. What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you exercise? Do you read? Pick a book and write your opinion on it. My hubs mostly consist of macaws because i own three of them.

    I read the great literature of the world, and modernize.  The great stories of life have already been told, it is better to tell them again in a way that a modern reader can relate.  Take a basic idea, distort it, build it's antithesis, change the names and the details, make it an all new creation... this has been the history of all great literature. 
    
    If you try to write from strictly your own experiences, or from memories then you run the risk of eliminating markets of readers. It is too subjective - what is important to you may not be important to anyone else.
    
    The news is a good way to find stories.  Find a news story and adapt it to some great story that you have read.  If you are creative, it will become an all new work.
