I believe that there is no set answer to this question. Because both of the emotions can be equally strong.
In any given situation it is the one in fear or in hope that decides the power it has over their them.
Being in fear can shut a person down in a given situation, if that person succumbs to it.
Being afraid is something we all deal with. But, it can be dealt through. That is why people can miraculously live through horrific situations.
The only thing is that we don't have to consciously cultivate fear like we have to cultivate Hope. Many times fear is automatic and Hope must be fostered.
And for Humans it seems to be easier to succumb to fear than to foster hope. But many people find their way through fear with Hope.
So the power that each has on a person is up to that person consciously or subconsciously.
Fear is more powerful...if you allow it to overcome your life. Hope can't overcome fear. Faith overcomes fear.

Hope is a concept, giving us meaning to live
Fear is a weakness, preventing us from living
Both are incredibly strong
Some people only know fear
Others allow hope to match, or overwhelm the fear
Good question. I don't believe either feeling is stronger than the other naturally. But within individuals, one can outweigh the other
Hope I think.
Why?
Because when someone is hoping that better life will come, it is easier to survive!
When people think better tomorrow will not come they commit suicide.
Hope because it encourages, it grows, it produces faith. Whereas Fear takes away your dreams, ignores the truth, and lacks freedom.
Hope delivers. Fear destroys. So in the end, all that will remain is Hope.
I believe hope stems from faith in something or someone. My hope always keeps me optimistic and a 3/4 glass full person. My hope is a bigger muscle than fear, but sometimes fear starts flexing its "Brutus" muscles and then hope will waver like an "Olive Oil" ... so I have to be like a "Popeye" and gobble up a can of spinach! Ta Da!
Hope is more powerful as it is a positive aspect, compared to fear which is negativity. However, so much emphasis is placed on fear that it generates its own life and seems to overwhelm. Hope brings so much to look forward to and it is not a destructive element.
Hope is more powerful if you have enough courage to muster it. Fear feeds on fear and grows fast. Hope on the other hand cuts through veil of fear until it can dissipate it into nothingness..
Fear can be paralyzing, and stop us in our tracks. Most of us could tell tales of being too afraid to react or to speak up.
Hope can be freeing ,liberating, encouraging us forward.
Each of these forces are powerful. Perhaps the real question should be, which of these do we have the most of?
Hope is a stronger motivator. It doesn't need to be renewed, and will carry a person forward when all else is gone. Fear gets old after a while. It requires continuous acts to reinforce it, examples, in other words. It is better at preventing a person from acting than forcing him to act.
I say fear. Fear is not easily washed away like hope, because there are people who have had counseling to overcome their fears, and still have not. However, hope I believe can be shattered by a simple criticism from a dear loved one or someone held in high regard.
hi
I think hope has a healing power whereas fear has a destructing power. Both are powerful but hope comes with a responsibility.
Only hope has the power to change the world - fear just keeps things the same....
A HOPE is more powerful because even when your fear of something/someone than also you hope that you will overcome that fear or the situation.
I think hope and fear are two very different emotions you can't really compare which one is more powerful of the two. Its kind of like comparing a carrot with a watermelon, they are both edible plant material, but they differ so widely, you can't really compare the two.
Fear is a fundamental part of being a human, it deserves respect, and needs to be felt and accepted. Suppression of fear, I believe (based on personal experiences) is one of the chief underlying causes of illness and disease in today's society. Fear has this stigma of being evil and bad, but it isn't. We need fear, we cannot run away from it or suppress it and if we so much as try it'll come back and hurt us (and believe me, it hurts like hell when it does come back).
I think hope might be a choice. One thing is for sure though, you can certainly feel fear at the same time as feeling hope, hope does very little to diminish fear. I've always lived with a lot of hope, its a wonderful warm and powerful emotion. Hope is powerful enough to keep people alive in the darkest of times. Hope gives strength and drive to keep going, against all the odds. But it doesn't remove fear.
The only emotion I have found, which you can't feel at the same time as fear is love. But even then, you can fight fear with love, because if you need to feel the fear, you WILL feel it regardless of whether you try to fight it with love or not. Its far less painful to just accept the fear and take what comes, rather than suppressing or fighting it.

It depends on the situation! Hope sure feels more positive and therefore more powerful than feer. It is hope that get us forward and living. But fear isn´t just a negative feeling and we need to feel feer too. Fear makes us vigilant and is a sign that we can protect ourselves from dangerous and unpleasant surprises. So in some situations fear is more powerful than hope!
In short. Both have equal powers because it help us stay alive and that's most important - Life, beautiful life!!
I think it is different for each individual. Both are very strong emotions.
Fear Works, hope is a dream. Fear puts fire in your belly and forces you into action. Hope is a passive feeling, allowing someone other than yourself to get you out of a jam.

We all believe we have one and the same creator, 'the God.' But what is causing this schism? What was it that separated us? What exactly are these boundaries and borders? Who made them? Was it God who drew these dividing lines between us? Was He the one who pushed those borders? And informed us...
