Absolutely and to a fault, probably 10 percent. The very nature of the position makes it difficult to be honest and at the same time not to offend constituencies.

    Not enough info as asked.

That is, before we can answer the question of honesty, it would seem advisable to determine BY WHOSE STANDARDS are we judging honesty?

But just in case that seems a copout, here we go, best estimate from one old cowboy:

    1.  To a member of the public at large:  Perhaps 10 percent in your own party and more like 2 percent in the opposing party seem honest.

    2.  To a politician, he or she himself almost always seems honest no matter what actions have been taken (we humans can rationalize most anything), perhaps 50 percent of his fellow party members look that way, and maybe 8 percent of the opposition.

    Just saying....smile

At least 20% are rotten to the core.  20% of all the politicians cause 80% of the problems...the statistic is still a valid application.  Sure the other 80% intentionally lies when answering questions or they use doublespeak to get people to believe what they want them to hear.  But in the end, that 20% factor is the nest of cockroaches that is destroying America.  Look closely into the vermin where they crawl and you will see the faces of both Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.  WB

Well, I'm pretty much thinking, "0%".  The reasons some lie may be less sinister than the reasons others do, or the reasons for some lies (from the same person) being less sinister than other lies (from that person) may differ - but (right or wrong), I'm sticking with the 0%.

    3rd Year 88% honest

Very very few, and they're mostly the ones who want other people to be successful and happy as well as them. Most politicians, once they see the power that they can have, will do anything to maintain that power and grow it. Sorry, but I'm very skeptical when it comes to politicians. I don't care about what they promise me, I care about what they will actually do.

I don't think it is possible to be entirely honest if you are a politician because you will be exposing too many people if you do that. You have to be "political" and try to compromise everything and never give a straight answer.

I would say .01%-5% of politicians are honest.  The average politicians see politics as a career move and resume builder.  They are in politics for the fame and celebrity it brings.  They are also in politics for the power.   For many, politics is a springboard to fame and becoming multimillionaires.
