   Yeah Twitter and Facebook seem to be the major tools used by all. Also I believe Search Engine Traffic can be a good source but there are conditions to it:
   -Good quality and unique content (a must.)
   -Decent keyword density (as they say...)
   -Also with Time as we build our follower base they can be a good source of Traffic as well.
   
   p.s--> Even I am a beginner and doing same research, and this is what I have found till now . Hope it helps

   I've found with Hubpages Traffic will automatically come to you via Google and Yahoo if you chose the right title for your Hub, have good original content and use the relevant keywords. It's really that simple.  Any promoting of your Hubs via social networking etc will work just as a bonus in addition to that.

   Depends what you call genuine.
   I use Traffup, Redgage and IMAutomator for posting links.
   I also Tweet, and Facebook my hubs.
   
   There is another which I am testing and it promises to be huge, but I will comment on that one after I see results or notice issues with it.

   Just write Unique and Genuine Content. If it is good and they are looking for it, visitors will come. Or, you could promote you site by Social Networking or Ads.

    You have to first have good quality content that is unique.  Then use communities online that you have developed.  Here is the rest of the sites that I like to use right away to get a hub some quick visibility.

    SEO is not a process of just a day or two. You need to work hard to get traffic for your website. Hubpages is an amazing way to generate traffic. Apart from this, you can start participating in Squidoo, Facebook, Twitter, do blog commenting, participate in forums, link building etc. These are the good ways to generate quality traffic for your website. But make sure that you write quality content useful for the readers for sharing.

    Write like a dog. Write about everything, write everywhere, write all the time. Add pics, videos and links to your sites and Blogs. Blog yourself to death and strain yourself making original websites and some of your pages will become popular eventually - most likely a small percentage of your total work but it will be enough. Not everything we do is going to be popular and we have to experiment over long periods of time using different techniques to see what will work. Things are always changing and so are algorithms so make blogs and websites in completely different ways. Don't use the same program, don't use the same format, don't use the same IP address and don't read too many seo blogs. Link out to other people who have stuff you like or who you feel need to be more popular. Be a generous person when linking to others.Write about things that bore you to tears and stuff you like too.
    Later on you will see that when algorithms change they will make some of your work more popular and some less popular. If you have enough original stuff plastered all over the internet then you won't care about techniques anymore because when the algorithm changes it will like some stuff that it did not like before and condemn some of your work which it previously blessed. People must understand that their work is not being human edited and the ultimate destiny for most of our stuff depends on a mathematical formula.

    If you want to just walk up to your computer and write a good hub, you'll want to do a lot of research on keywords first. The other option is to just start writing a few hubs on things you are interested in and see what gets the most hits. It's the lazy way to do it, but of course it takes time.
    
    To get real traffic to your hubs, post links in forums that discuss the content of the hubs. If the hubs are really good, active members on the forum mind pass that link along.
    
    Yahoo answers is one place that I've used, since you can answer a question with a few sentences and refer the asker to your hub for more. And if you get the best answer, everyone who sees the question will see your link.
