   Not Replying to comments ....Is it rude not to?
   
   Does it upset anyone else that when you leave comments on someones hub and they reply to almost all of the comments. But they never reply to your comments no matter how many hubs of theirs you comment on?

   No one expects you to reply to every comment, but when a comment is especially meaningful to you, it's a nice touch to respond.  I also check out that writer's hubs and if I really like their writing, I'll follow them.

   Well, maybe they don't know what to reply
   Although they have a choice to even APPROVE or DENY your comment in the first place.
   
   Although, I make it a point to thank them back for stopping by IF I have nothing else to say...so can't think of anything but the above

   Yes, that would upset me but most of my comments get a response. Really, I think its just out of courtsey that people reply at all....

   I don't really care if the author's don't respond to my comments, unless, of course I asked a question.

   I have never encountered anyone responding to all other comments but mine.
   
   I would consider it weird.  Maybe even rude. But if it bothers you (it would be bother me), stop commenting.  If you find the hubs interesting enough and you read them for its value, not for getting attention to yourself, then comments are optional.
   
   My recommendation - always question your motivation first.  Why would you continue commenting and expecting feedback if you already see the trend?
   
   I respond to all comments, but sometimes I am harsh, I must admit, when I realize a person did not even read a single line and a comment is "You are great!"
   
   Then I check out hubtivity of the "offender" and he/she left the same comment on 100 other hubs with the frequency one comment per minute - there was no reading!!!
   
   That is rude. To assume I am such a fool.  I am, but only to a certain extent.

   Personally I think it is very rude to reply to others and leave some people out. It's almost like they are picking and choosing who they feel is appropriate to respond to. I do make an effort to respond to all comments. I feel that if folks have used their own valuable time to read and comment on any of my hubs then it is only manners to acknowledge this.

   I try to respond to every one which is directed at me. In the case of some of my political hubs there are side conversations which develop that I don't always feel compelled to comment upon. The comment process is interesting in that I keep reminding myself that the reason we are here is to hone our writing skills yet we, as readers, get caught up in the writing and tend show our emotions as opposed to offering any constructive feedback to the writer. I am not saying that is wrong but I do think it is interesting such that we can't help but get lost in the writing of our peers. As for the etiquette, I treat a comment that I have left as a gift...it is something I wanted to give but do not expect anything back in return. If we adopt that mindset, we don't get disappointed in attempting to predict the behavior of the writer. WB

   I try not to let it bother me if that happens. If it is my hub, I will try to answer each comment, but sometimes I may miss one. I will then try to go back and correct it by commenting and apologizing to that person I missed.
   I am getting horrible about reading hubs and not leaving a comment, because I am not sure what to say and hate becoming generic with "This is a great hub!". After awhile tho, I feel bad because I don't want hubbers to think that I don't read their hubs. I at least try to vote whether I leave a comment or not.
