    Does believing something make it true?
    What makes something true?
    Why is truth often not believed?

    simply beleiving something doesn't make it true. Being based on provable fact makes a thing truthful. Truth is often disbelieved simply because the truth doesn't fit with an individual's preferred version of the truth.

    Believing in something does not make it true, though the belief can be a help or a comfort, didn't you once believe in the Tooth Fairy?
    For something to be true, it simply has to be factual.
    Some people may disbelieve the truth because they don't want to accept it, or that it will cause hurt!

    Your first and last questions, in dealing with belief, both deal with personal opinion, as belief is a personal choice.  Rather, truth is something not decided by opinion, but grounded in fact.

    I would even say that belief has no value regarding truth, because something will remain true regardless of your belief.

    Believing in something does not make it true, truth is not often believed because some people will rather hide in denial than face up to truth as it can be hurtful or could be something that they do not want to here.

    Have you heard the term "ignorance is bliss"?

    "Truth," said a traveller,
    "Is a rock, a mighty fortress;
    Often have I been to it,
    Even to its highest tower,
    From whence the world looks black."

    "Truth," said a traveller,
    "Is a breath, a wind,
    A shadow, a phantom;
    Long have I pursued it,
    But never have I touched
    The hem of its garment."

    And I believed the second traveller;
    For truth was to me
    A breath, a wind,
    A shadow, a phantom,
    And never had I touched
    The hem of its garment.

    If you believe in your own mind that something is true, then it is so until you learn different.

    Maybe if you believe in a certain situation or outcome hard enough then you could make it come true..?
    This has happened to me before.

    Believing something does not make it true, however, believing in a end result of doing something can help to achieve it. In other words, believing you can become something like a doctor or teacher etc can help you to achieve that goal. Believing is like faith, we all ought to have it.

    Believing that spring grass is yellow, will not make it so..........believing that cows run faster or with more grace than horses does not make it so.

    Some things are facts.   Some things are ideas or emotions.

    Believing, that telling your best friend that her hubby is a cheater is the right thing, makes it so.  "Believing" that you are sparing her pain, by  not telling her is also "true".

    Believing that sparing your mother in law's feelings, when you tell her, that her  signature dish, is the best you have eaten, serves a greater good.

    You can " believe" in fact or in a code of behavior, serving yourself, or in serving another.

    Some things are clear, some things not so much............the wise, know the difference..........and make allowances.

    Sometimes, the "truth" is painful........sometimes the "truth" is not worth the pain, and sometimes, it demands that we go beyond it.

    The truth is...........that the " truth" can inspire, or "free" us............or, it can hurt us, and hinder us, make us  question ourselves.

    It is a weapon.......that should be handled with great wisdom and kindness.

    There is no justice in telling us the truth.........without giving us the tools to deal with "the truth".

    Be just.........not cruel.

    When you believe in something, you will in turn make it comes true as you will be taking action.

    Sometimes we will imagine something, we will try to visualize it and soon it can be made true. Imagine many decades ago, we do not have TV. Now we have TV that are made of LED.

    Same goes with many inventions that were made years ago and if we do not believe in something then all these will be just a dream.

    Believing helps us to move ahead. But the danger is such that it may be harmful to us. The result of technology has upset the balance of Yin and Yang. That's why there are so many disasters happening all over the world.
