It happens - just delete it and mark them as spammers

This might be a dumb question but I've not come accross a rotters comment like that before. I found a couple of spam hubs which I flagged but never this.    Soooooooo
How can I mark a comment as spam if it's in another hubbers comment capsul???? without pointing at the hub itself???? zs

You know, if it's a comment on someone else's Hub, that's for them to decide if it's spam or not.

If so,why not set comments to  appear after approval of hubber.

You have that option in the comments capsule.  The default is for them to appear immediately, however.

If you see extremely offensive comments on other people's hub, feel free to bring them to our attention by emailing team@hubpages.com.  In general though, it is the responsibility of the author to moderate the comments on their hubs.  If you are generating significant traffic it is, unfortunately, inevitable that some idiot will post a comment like this to one of your hubs.

Thank you Paul. It's a shame that no matter where 'idiots' show up.
That particular comment bothered me more than it should mainly because it was left on a very touching and personal hub. You know what I mean it just kind of tried to dirty a memory...

thanks for the e-mail address warmest regards Zsuzsy

That's why it's really important to check every comment in our hubs

Is it just me? Am I weird ? But why after all this time is all that crap still there?

Not everyone takes the responsibility to moderate their comments seriously or perhaps they just have different standards.  I wouldn't call the comments on that hub spammy though, since they aren't really promoting anything.

I got it Paul.  I suppose it should have read "borderline offensive" rather than "spammy" as they aren't advertising but they do have the f-bomb and other, choice words in there!

I had a comment on my demon drawing hub, saying my drawings were crap, but hey I left it on there and responded to it!

I take no notice of these people as most of the time they are commenting anonymously so we can't track the fools down

I've only deleted one really crappy comment to a hub of mine.  I figure that I can deal (I hope) with the stuff they throw at me.  I get enough positive responses most of the time.  Every once in a while someone will actually make a point for me by making an idoitic comment to a hub - I leave those comments there.  ;-)

Yes, leaving idiotic comments only makes the commentator look like an idiot to everyone else smile

I leave some comments but not all idiotic comments. I believe on my "feeding frozen," which is about the benefits of feeding frozen feeders to snakes, I recieved a comment stating "What is wrong with you? Live feeding is bad enough, but them you are telling people how to kill the rodents? Jesus christ!!!! You dont just bang the animal on a table or flick the base of its skull. People like you shoulsnt have animals at all. God forbid someone takes your advice and breeds their own feeders. You people that live feed just suck ass." In reality, some people cannot get their snakes to eat anything but live, but whatever. The commentor even had a blow to my personal skills as a pet owner, which pissed me off most of all. I never even said that I, personally, kill the mice that way, but that it is a way to do it. I never told people that's what they Have to do but that it's an alternative if you want to feed live but do so safely. Whatever anyway...

You can either delete them or just comment back. I commented back.

Marye, that's happened to me but 1 comment will be derogatory and the next will be nice.

Zsuzsy,,,,,,you dear!  thank you for starting this thread, I guess I'm still stunned by that comment, especially since it had no relation to the hub.  I also see UninvitedWriter has commented in this thread.  I sent an email asking what the comment was for, did she perhaps comment to the wrong hub?  Never got a reply, but as you see, her answers here seem normal, so I am totally confused.
Note:  Zsuzsy, thanks for getting your dander up about this too, lol,,,,,I tend to stay pretty laid back, and not react the way people expect me to, and it infuriates my best friend.  I can share an issue I'm having with her, and she will start ranting about it, while I just listen,,,she says aren't you mad?? you should be,,,,,,,yeah, well, guess that's why she's my best friend, I keep telling her that's exactly why I share my problems with her, so SHE can be mad for me LOL,,
anyway,,,,,I appreciate all this feedback, so thank you everyone!
    Patty

You're more then welcome Patty. I hate, hate, hate unfairness. So I always blow my cool; more often then not too fast. I was hoping that the hubteam would have been able to get at that rotters comment before you even saw it. All is well that ends well. But this has proven to me again that Hubbers rule and what a great place Hubpages is. Uninvited Writer I might have gotten to that comment a split second before you we sure were on the same wave length.
      warmest regards Zsuzsy
