Do you write hubs just for fun or are you in it for the money?
Is hubbing just a hobby for you or do you write so that you can have an additional income on the side? Can hubbing ever be a full time job?
From what I can see there are very few people that earn enough money from writing Hubs to make a living, although it could contribute to a wider writing career.
I already have a full time job, so for me it is just an opportunity to practise my writing skills, and to share a few things that I know about, and hopefully earn a little bit of pocket money on the side.
At the moment my monthly earnings are still measured in cents rather than dollars, so it's not about the money!
I am hoping to earn a bit of pocket cash, too new & too soon to tell.
i write only for fun. i don't make any money and i don't care if i ever do. to me writing is just a hobby and a way to get my views and ideas out.
For me its both, a hobby and at the same time an extra source of income. It's great to be able to join a community of diverse knowledge and ideas like hubpages. Here, we are able to exchange thoughts with people from around the world. At least our perspective will not be narrowly compounded only around our place. We are able to share our thoughts and in return know how the rest of the world thinks about it. Plus the benefit of earning base from the amount of useful contribution you make to the community. Its a great useful hobby, perfect for pass time.
Honestly, ny first intention was really to have an extra source of income from online money making schemes I have read there are a lot of scam in this area wherein they ask you to buy something. I just thought why I should spend when in the first place I want to earn. Anyway, in my search, I was brought to that site which listed hubpages as a legitimate home=based money making online site. This doesnt' cost you any, so I then signed in, I was thrilled when I came to read a lot of hubbers who are experts in the field of wrting and very helpful, Then reading from the various hubs I learned, earning in hubpages is not that easy; you have to intensify your traffic and basically write many very good-content hubs. I am new to this and to date I have only written one hub, At this point, earning for me is not much of my concern since I haven't had enough time to write hubs faster but in the future I do want to get even a little income from this. What I like most in these hubpages is your freedom to express yourself and be able to befriend many from across the globe. This is a very good site where professionals and non-professionals in the area of writing put their talents together to be shared to everybody. I can say, it's the wonderful experience that you are paid of instead in hubpages.
I would have to say writing for both. Although I do want to make additional income from my writing, I also choose subjects I enjoy or that I can relate to in some way. As for a full time job, that still remains to be seen. With all the Google changes it can prove to be a challenge.
thanks Xinox your answer is really insightful. I did read your hub and i think you should write more.
To be frank initially i came in to make some revenue. Everything was not so good in the beginning. Well then i have learnt how to get more traffic in here for my hubs. So i started reading others hubs, commenting, participated in forums, etc. This became more interesting, reading hubs, commenting, answering questions, etc. I've learnt many new things from many hubs on different topics... There from i've started spending some good time daily on hubpages.
Hello, like many for me it is a little of both.
I earn some money, but as time has passed I feel I have gained more reward from expressing myself through writing. The feeling of community here is really good, and so now my main reason for writing is the sharing of knowledge with others.

There are some troubled men who regularly use forums, and they have not a single hub in their profiles. How come? How is it allowed? I do not get it--- Is HubPages a chat-website?
